I'll preface this review by mentioning that I'm only giving this location two stars because our waitress was decent, however this place is entirely business focused and does not care about their customers at all; they only care how much money they can make, and aren't even subtle about it.
This is the third time in the past few months I've had almost the exact same negative experience. My husband and I come here quite often, however about a month ago the hostess pointed us to a table that was in an awkwardly shaped corner, and had chairs shoved so closely together it was almost uncomfortable. Being that the restaurant was nearly empty at the time, I didn't see an issue asking for a bigger, less cramped table. However, upon asking, the hostess mentioned that we could not have a bigger table as they "expect" more people to arrive. My husband and I sat here for two hours; none of those tables filled during that entire time. We had this happen about a month before that as well.
However, my experience this evening has ensured that I won't be back to Wings. After waiting about 10-15 minutes for the hostess to even take our name, it was clear she was trying to shoo people out of the door, discouraging even putting their name on the list to wait. Once I was finally at the hostess stand with my family, this same woman gave us the same spiel as everyone else, however I noticed an empty half booth and asked if that was available. Her response was "oh, well you're three people, we need to save that for four people, because it's first come" and after having this happen on two other occasions, was clearly irritated. I questioned this lady by asking if it's first come first serve, why we were not being served first. Her response was that "there are four people in the line that might want to watch the game." Four people - behind us - that MIGHT want to watch the game. Are you kidding me? My father couldn't believe it either, and turned to the guy behind us and asked if he was watching the game on his own, and he was. So in order just to be sat at all and not shooed out of the door like everyone else in line, we had this young man join our family for dinner.
We tried to enjoy the rest of our evening regardless, however I couldn't help but to be distracted by the same woman gossiping to her bearded male coworker as we had our meal, before walking over to two other young female employees and gossiping some more.
A tip to the blonde woman with the neck tattoo and to the owners of this location: Learn professionalism and proper customer service etiquette, and at least try to make it less obvious that this place doesn't care at all about its customers. You might make more money in the long run by having pleasant staff that at least pretend to care, so that you'll keep returning customers instead of treating them like trash, all because the staff can't/don't want to do their jobs and have no focus other than the money they "might" make. You've lost three loyal customers today.
To our server, the lady with the light brown hair with gold buttons on her cardigan: Thank you for being the only pleasant employee we communicated with this evening. You were a delight to have as our server, full of humor and great work ethic, and good on you for staying positive amidst the negativity that is so...

I truly wish I could talk about the food, but sadly, our party never even got to try it. Wings on Kingsway gladly accepted the reservation for our group of 11, two weeks ahead of my friend's 30th birthday.. Invites were sent out, carpools were organized, all was in order for what we hoped would be a food-filled evening of merriment. But hopes are often dashed, and ours was no exception.
As it turned out, the staff at Wings chose to disregard the reservation - despite us having made it well in advance - and instead book the entire restaurant for a private function. The icing on the cake? We weren't even notified until we arrived on location and saw the "Private Function - Closed to the General Public" sign hanging starkly on the door, our party wide-eyed and slack-jawed in disbelief.
Rather than take responsibility for their clear blunder, the staff offered an "apology" that sounded more like an accusation. "Sorry, we can't take your party... We tried calling you THREE TIMES today." This line was repeated to me by several staff members, including the manager, almost as if it were a mantra that, if repeated enough times, would shift the blame on us.
The accusatory tone was infuriating enough, but I take issue with the line for a number of other reasons: (1) Why call to notify us on the day of the reservation? The attempt should have been made ahead of time, like, oh I don't know, when they decided to create the scheduling conflict in the first place, perhaps? (2) If - for whatever reason (even though there are none I can think of) - calling on the actual day was the only option, why not leave a voicemail? The phone number I gave the restaurant has a voicemail which I check regularly, and that simple gesture would have given our group at least a few hours to make alternate plans.
Alas, I understand my objections are moot now, and what's done is done. Defeated, tails between our legs, we slipped off into the night, with nothing to show for our efforts except our growling empty stomachs...
For anyone still reading, this story DOES have a happy ending: food-filled merriment was indeed had, albeit in a different location than what we had previously envisioned. Thank the gods for River's Reach pub in New...
Read moreWife was craving wings, and after some counter arguments she convinced me to go for wings at Wings. Based on past good experience in Abbotsford. Under covid we rather order by phone and pick up in person. (Any reason to go out nowadays with covid and is better business for restaurants than order using your app delivery services which charge restaurants a fee) Anyway. Over the phone wife was told she needed to order a drink every 2 orders of wings. We were like...oukeeyyyy. what drinks you got. A few of the usual pops you find in your fridge even if you don't drink pop. And a couple of beer choices. We decided on 3 wing orders so we gotta pay for 2 order of drinks We picked your usual ginger ale can for 3+ bucks And heineken for 6 if i recall correctly. They only offered Corona and Heniken ONLY for takeout Once i got to the place i looked around in my marked spot and just one guy cared to asked me what I needed. I said just pick up order And he went to the side where cashier and tons of beers are offered. Once there i asked can i have a different beer I didn't know you had these much beers available. You got tons of good premium beer. I was denied. Even if I had to pay more I dont mind. Once home even the wings were meh. Believe me giving me one of the tons of beer choices you got would've been fine . Never again. Just go to your nearby friendly 7eleven get a ton of wings ... and just be sure they are fresh. If not just ask for a full fresh pizza Then drive to the closest liquor store, grab a Guinness, Sapporo. Erdinger, Local BC brewery option ...whatever you like. Much simpler...You'll...
