As I sit here at 2:51 am writing this from my washroom I wanted to share my experience. I’m going to say that it’s been a while since my wife and I have been to the Southcentre location, we have fond memories that’s what brought us back. When we got there on Saturday December 18th at approximately 6:30pm the restaurant was pretty quiet. We got a two top beside the bar close to the door which was a high traffic area. We ordered two beers and asked for two waters. We also ordered all of our food at the same time. My wife’s beer came and they needed to change the keg for mine, all good besides that our server didn’t bring us any water. Five minutes or so passed and my beer came. Shortly after, all of our food came. I was expecting to have our appetizers come out first, fried pickles and chicken wings, but all the food came out with our mains, a wedge salad and double cheeseburger with side Mac and cheese. Since the table was small we had to combine our apps onto one tray and put the cutting board under the tray. We still haven’t received our waters. When our server came back to check on us my wife asked for water again and the server only brought her one. I then asked for one myself when she returned with another beer my wife ordered previously. My water came shortly afterwards. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her wedge salad, it was good as I had a bite. My double cheeseburger was delicious also but my side of Mac n cheese was pretty dry. It was like it sat in the window too long. Not dead, but pretty close. I didn’t finish it. The fried pickles were on point. Hot, crispy and delicious. Our hot wings were good up until I bit into a drum and found some extra redness close to the bone which I wasn’t a fan of. Knowing that doesn’t always indicate if the wing was correctly cooked I finished it and proceeded to the next drum. This one was the same but worse. Extra red and a bit bloody. Needless to say I didn’t finish it. There was only three wings left at that point and left them on the plate. We hadn’t seen our server for a bit and our empty plates and glasses were not bussed off the table even though there were servers and what looked like a manager walked by us multiple times. I took my last sip of beer and noticed my glass was chipped. When our server did come back to check on us we had told her about the wings and the chip on the glass. We then asked for our bill, she was totally apologetic about the items we had concerns with but left our empty dishes on the table when she got our bill. I didn’t want to leave this Google review but we obviously had to let you know about our experience. My wife and I have been in the service industry for years and know when you’re in the weeds the ball sometimes gets dropped. We’re not mad or expect any compensation, we just hope this won’t be the service normal for the next time we return. -EDIT- I wanted to say that the General Manager Gary Higgins has been very helpful in our decision to return to the Southcentre location. His response to my email was fast and inviting. Because of this, I am changing my rating from a three to a five. Thank you Gary and the Craft customer...
Read moreEdited review. Please note that I would give a 5 stars for delicious food but 1 star for portions (unless they also got that wrong). Originally I gave this location 3 stars (June 2019)because I thought of coming back and give it a try and I did on July 7, 2019 . I thought that maybe when I went it was one of those days where I got a terrible service and people where just busy (not an excuse to go beyond and above customer service when you really want to excel in your business). Well, it happened again and I’m terribly disappointed at the Southcentre location. Awful service specially for those with children. This is pretty much a self-serve location. if your restaurant does not trained their employees to provide excellent service for those with small children perhaps you should change the policy to kids 10 years old and up. It’s been twice where I have not been given a decent service and we have to be up and down trying to get basic items to make our brunch experience a positive one
Once again, it took approximately 10 minutes to get our order. It wasn’t that busy. 10 mins to get our drinks and 15 mins to get a chocolate milk in a NON kid friendly cup. Not even a cup water! And I did ask for one when we arrived. When we asked for kid friendly cup they said they don’t have one. I even ask if they had those plastic cups with lids and a straw but they said that they didn’t. At Other restaurants, the workers at least try to bring you a plastic wrap to prevent the milk to put over a child under the age of two. I had to get up to get myself a baby chair. host asked if we wanted one and we said yes, she never came back, once again I had to get up (same story the first time we visited!) When we requested if they could turn the volume down a bit in the patio (it was during brunch hours), they ignored my request and never did it. We came for brunch but after 30 mins. Of constant requests for menus, drinks, chairs, cream, sugar, etc we decided to leave and find another place to eat. Instead of spending over $60 here with my family we only spent $15.00. Bad business.
The first time I went was the same story but a little worst. They got my order wrong and I’m not sure if the portions were correct but it seemed overpriced for the amount of food you get! I used to go to the craft in downtown and the service and food were done right and the portions were slightly larger. I do give 5 stars for the food, is...
Read moreCame here last night for a birthday, our server was great, however, the food was terrible.
I’ve gone to craft many times here and there over the past 10 years and I swear it gets worst every time, but this was the final straw. The food use to be so good, reasonably priced and good portion sizes. Unfortunately different story now, the portions are so small that every single one of us 10 people ate our plates clean. I got the chicken salad and it was extremely and I mean EXTREMELY disappointing but I didn’t wanna make a scene in front of my friends and complain so I ate, paid and left. Now let me tell you, they try and fool you to think it’s a big portion by delivering the salad on an oversized plate/bowl (like way too over sized). I can usually NEVER clean a plate because I just can’t eat that much but I polished this off and left still hungry and unsatisfied. You’d think a salad with chicken and veggies would fill you? Well not at this place. Way too much lettuce and large chunks of them that it was not pretty trying to shove that in my mouth, they should be cut to more bite size. The black beans, cheese and other veggies were almost non existent and it was decently lacking in sauce that it was kinda dry. I didn’t think you could mess up a salad but Craft has proven you can. The best salads I’ve had are at fork & salad for roughly the same $20- $25 dollar point but DOUBLE the size, I usually get two meats from fork & salad because it’s so filling.
I understand prices go up but the size of plates shouldn’t go down and that appears to be done here. I have never encountered a place where a group of 10 people ate their whole plates and not a single take out. My bill was $57 with that gross salad and two drinks plus forced gratuity. I honestly feel like this was the biggest waste of $57. I do however now know, I will not waste a dime from my hard earned money here again on their food. For those prices and portion sizes I can go to Bridgette bar, Earls, cactus club (which has bigger portion sizes) or anywhere else that I would consider more upscale dinning. Craft, you...
