Super busy with a 25-30 minute wait time, but to be expected on a busy weekend at brunch time - recommend getting on their Yelp wait list ahead of time, if you decide to chance the food - but at least the quoted wait time was accurate. Kids liked their breakfast, me, well not at all and I didn't want to "make a scene" or deal with management when the kids were having a good time and happy. The boy had eggs Benedict and was happy with the flavor, even though CLEARLY it had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite awhile.....sauce was crusty/dried up, eggs over cooked, and the ham was all curled up on the edges and dry - it looked like maybe an extra meal or mistake made for a different table that ended being used to serve us instead as it was CLEARLY not freshly made. He said it tasted great, but when I had a sample, it was obvious it had been sitting for quite some time under a heat lamp. My little girl had cinnamon stack pancakes and was ecstatic with her choice, and admittedly they were the best breakfast on the table and quite good. The bacon and hash browns on my plate were greasy and lacked flavor, hash browns were lukewarm at best, and had a metallic greasy flavor - same as the hash browns on the boys plate that I tried. The bacon was flavorless and - like the hash browns - tasted like the flat top they were clearly being kept warm on. There was NO butter on my toast even though I asked for extra, and no jam/peanut butter or condiments on the table for the toast. The server thankfully did bring the extra butter I requested ahead of the meal arriving for my toast....but why none on the toast from the kitchen?? I was hoping for warm toast with melty butter, but got cold dry toast. One of my eggs was over hard, the other was over easy (ordered over easy) and were obviously cooked together in the same frying pan or together on the flat top.....so....how did that happen? The only thing on my plate that had any real flavor was the sausages, but again, they were kind of greasy. Menu states two slices of ham, yeah....not so much. More like a half a round piece of ham, cut into two pieces.....yay shrinkflation for making me feel ripped off - and I have had sawdust with more flavor than the ham......how is ham flavorless, it wasn't even salty or anything, just super duper bland.
If I had dined alone, one star review all day, but because the kids were so happy and the server was excellent a two piece review it is. The IHOP I remember in Langley was a weekly visit tradition with amazing food consistently, but that was many years ago, so maybe the chain itself has gone downhill and now is just generally disappointing and, well, meh/blah? I may be back with the kids if they insist, but I'll just plan to eat somewhere else after or ahead of time, and have only a coffee if I take them so I can spend my money on something I'll enjoy eating. As a plus, our server was super friendly and fast at her job, and was the only bright spot during my experience. The washrooms were pretty dirty. Toilet paper and paper towels everywhere, urinals full of paper towels and backing up. I get that some customers kid probably was playing in the guys washroom from what I saw and caused the disaster, but apparently my daughter experienced the same thing in the ladies washroom.....recommend more frequent bathroom checks by the staff/management as they were dirrrrty. Definitely not worth the 25 minute wait or the high priced meals in my opinion. Redeeming quality....hosts and servers were friendly efficient and good at their jobs. Dissatisfaction and disappointing as IHOP used to be one of my favorite...
Read moreMy 2 friends' orders looked amazing.... burger and onion rings. My mom ordered avocado toast it supposed to come with hasbrowns, and she ordered eggs for extra . She got a piece of bread not toasted.... no hasbrowns. It was fine when we brought it up to the server she apologized profusely and brought her hasbrowns and a side of fruit to make up for it. And they didn't charge for any of the extras. So she got gasbrowns, eggs, and fruit for free, and she got a bit of a discount off her meal, too. So that was super. My meal was less than stellar. I ordered the cinnamon crepes and a side of hashbrowns and the donuts. The crepes were really full of the filling, which usually is a good thing but for me it is way to rich for a tiny crepe I ended up opening the crepes and scraped out 3/4 of the filling and re rolled it. It's not that the filling was not good.... but was just too thick and overpowering for such a thin layer. And then topped with a cinnamon sauce and a chocolate (?) Sauce on top? It was all over powering. 15$ for 2 crepes was just a bit high. But the meal came to over 34$ for 2 crepes, pop, hashbrowns, and the donut holes. A bit much for lunch, IMO. Some adjustments need to be made to the cost of the sides. I feel it's a bit high for the amount of food you get. So.... after all that ...would I go back? Yes of course. I will order much smartly next time and watch the add one. As I'm sure one could get a better deal for their money. My friends burgers and onio rings I might try next time... hope this helps the next person to order... sorry I forgot to...
Read moreWe visited iHop, for my first time visiting the restaurant, today, November 11. When we arrived to put our name down for a table, we were told the wait time was about 25 minutes for a table. We were okay with that as we had some errands to run at southcentre mall. However the wait ended up being over an hour, we were extremely hungry at that point but the waiting didn’t end there.
We got to the restaurant, and the front desk staff couldn’t seem to decide whether they wanted to give us a table, making us wait and go back and forth for about 10 minutes before being seated. After about 30 minutes of waiting, we finally had a server come get our drink orders. However, I got coffee, cream and sugar but no spoon to stir it in. We tried to make eye contact or speak with another server but were ignored. I ended up not getting cutlery until we got our food (that took nearly an hour to come out). We had two elderly ladies who also experienced an hour wait just to receive their coffee from our server. He never walked around to ask whether our food was okay. They had ample staff for the slow down that happened around 1:30, yet everyone in the restaurant seemed to be waiting for a server. They must have all been waiting by the front entrance, where their manager was frantically running around, Ignoring patrons and her own staff.
The food was fine, but the service will make us never want to go back. Comparing to other low cost brunch places (such as Denny’s) the service pales in comparison.
Overall wouldn’t recommend this place on a weekend nor would recommend the male...
