Lets just say to begin with, I rarely if ever do not leave a tip. This was one of the exceptions. The food is good. The service is better at McDonald's. It stems from the manager. I honestly feel sorry for the staff. Once we got seated, we were served by the manager. We put in our drink orders, waiting a little no issue or concern yet. Our drinks come and we put in our food orders, as well as waters for the table. One of us ordered the banana fosters French toast, 2 ordered breakfast poutines one with medium poach, one hard poached, and I ordered the west coast smashed avocado toast with soft poached eggs. This is where things go down hill. It was a fair bit of 15 ish minutes and I ask about getting some more coffee and what our ETA was on the waters for the table. The manager was like oh yeah k 4 waters yeah, like it didn't even register. Once the waters came it had been a good 25 ish minutes since we ordered food, and I asked how long do you think food would be, got a very snarky comment of its still being cooked. Food comes out, one of the breakfast poutines is soft poached, one is medium poached, banana fosters French toast is good, smashed avocado toast one soft one hard. I get it things happen, misdates are made. I mention the hard poached egg so it can be noted, and the manager was in the same very snarky tone, so do you want another one, or do you want me to take it off, what do you want. No apology, no acceptance of wrong doing or even acknowledgement of the situation. The last straw was I was seated next to one of the hutches where they have there POS system / Place there coffee pots. It was bumped, I dono by who, but it was bumped and I got some coffee spilled on me. Absolutely nothing was done, no apology or even acknowledgement that it had happened. I have been to both dinner deluxe's in Calgary. The food is decent and the service at the bridgeland one is excellent. The one in Mahogany food is decent, Management needs to be changed, a full 180. I will not be returning until this issue is addressed. I hope the Owners of the Diner Deluxe do read this review as there is a Serious Management problem at this location, and you will have a great deal of trouble keeping good staff and clientele until...

Food is good. Service is horrible. Hubby and I were there on labour day Monday. After standing in line for 15 minutes to even get to see the front desk, we were met by a hostess who proceeded to tell us it would be about a 30 to 45 minute wait. We agreed to wait and she put our name down. After an hour had passed, i went in to see if I could get an update on how much longer. The hostess, seemingly annoyed by my question, informed me that she couldnt give me an estimate on how long because it was "to hard to predict". I went back outside where my husband was and we decided to just wait for a couple more minutes. As I was standing outside I noticed 7 EMPTY tables. We waited 15 more minutes until I went in again. I was yet again told by the hostess that she "wasnt sure" how much longer it would be. At that point I asked her why we couldnt be sat at ANY of the 7 open tables, in which the hostess replied "i need to keep those open in case a bigger group comes and we need to push them together". Another man standing behind me asked about all the empty tables as well at which point the hostess huffed and muttered something under her breath and led my husband and I to a table. After an hour and 15 minutes, when we were finally sat at our table, we waited 15 minutes for our waiter to even come acknowledge us. Once our waiter finally took our drink order, those said drinks took another 20 minutes to come. After we finally ordered, our food took another 30 minutes. All and all....we were there for THREE hours. I will not be going back. Yes, the food is good....but not worth waiting 3 hours for. Next time we will probably just go to Ricky's, Canadian Brewhouse or the Brokn yolk down the street. Sometimes these hipster style breakfast places are all about their image and instagram worthy decor.....this is one if...

Super disappointed with my experience at Diner Deluxe. They cannot handle peak time and management has 0 customer service, I would honestly avoid giving them your business.

Edit: I reduced the rating to 1 star after speaking with the manager. I received a deflective apology from him and no offer of a discount on our bill. The manager did not attempt to rectify the problem whatsoever.

Very poor management and organization. The food was quite bland and not worth the steep price. The 1 star is for the front of house staff working hard to get orders out and tables filled, and for the kitchen staff.

I ordered brunch for pick up on a Sunday. I expected the wait to be long. I had to call in my order as they closed skipthedishes orders due to the restaurant being busy. I was told 30 min over the phone and when I arrived 40 minutes later, I was told I was early and that my order was not ready. I arrived 10 minutes later than they told me to arrive so I was very confused.

The restaurant was extremely busy inside and many people were not happy with the wait. I overheard people saying that they’ve had to wait for over an hour to get a table when they were told 45 minutes. Also people at tables looked upset with the wait too. This did not leave a good impression on me.

I then waited 25 more minutes inside the restaurant for my pick up order. In total it took about an hour for my take out order to be made and ready, which is double the time I was told over the phone.

I won’t be returning to this location given the poor communication, management, and organization of the restaurant. Also the food was not worth the wait. I’d recommend going to a different breakfast location, like Brokin Yolk, in the area. They can handle a peak time rush and they communicate well with customers, plus their food is...

This place must only get business when Brokin Yolk is too long of a wait. I can’t believe how bad it is. View the pic of the “rosti”. What a joke. And apparently that is “stuffed” with bacon and cheese and then has hollandaise. And you can only get basil hollandaise, no regular, which makes me think they just use a pre-made mix. But how silly of a breakfast place to not have hollandaise available for customers. All the food was lacking seasoning. My companions meals were dry and flavourless. The mimosa kit we ordered is also another in a long line of jokes this place plays on their guests. When you have to include “candy stripe straws” as one of the descriptions, I think you need to rethink your menu. Which is the worst designed menu I have ever seen in calgary. It’s entirely schizophrenic and there is no order to the chaos. It’s like you’re reading a breakfast poem with every stanza arranged in a different way. The funny thing, they either spent money on that design or the owner made it themselves and actually think it looks good. I do t have enough time to get into service, which was weak. All the good servers work at Brokin Yolk I guess so they get the leftovers here. And lastly, the decor is a cheap imitation of a retro diner, but comes off more as Winners’ and Homesense derived. There is no foreseeable way I’d spend money here again. Was gonna make it 2 stars, but after writing this, 1 star feels better, especially for the price

Great spot for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Menu has great variety and though I highly recommend the Potato Rosti, and the Pancakes. The pancakes are so good, with a fantastic crispy outside but perfectly fluffy insides. So good. The Potaoto Rosti stuffed with bacon and cheese was next level. The over easy egg was cooked to perfection. It comes with a side of bacon to increase the protein quotient. My companion ordered the Avocado Toast, which they swear by, though they have come to be disappointed that the order only comes with one slice, when it used to be two yummy slices. Chocolate milk is milk with chocolate syrup, so keep that in mind. Still hit the spot. We were offered house hot sauce which was a thick sauce that had good flavor and wasn't especially hot. I would recommend. They also had Valentina's at the table. Service was warm and efficient, and suitably friendly. The dine in area is quite large and breakfast time was busy but we weren't on top of one another. Bathroom was clean and large; two private ladies rooms and one men's room. This is a great place to bring a sibling for a bite. Or someone else special in your life. Next time I am having the waffles and chicken. Highly, highly recommend.

Based on Calgary Bylaws and the CDC website, I have a medical exemption. One of your waitresses as we were leaving, said that we could not get up without wearing a mask. I discussed my medical exemption and she said it "didn't matter" that I had one, it is our company policy. If this is your policy, I will definitely never visit here again. My problem is how it was handled and the lack of consistency. If this is what your company is choosing to do, that's the company's choice but be consistent. Enforce it at the beginning and make sure your staff knows how to handle this. No where else has given me a hard time about my medical condition. If this is just a strict company policy you need to enforce it at the door. I would've been fine going anywhere else, instead of being seated maskless and then being accosted at the end about it. Very unimpressed with how this is handled, especially making your staff do the enforcing. I have come here regularly since 2013. This will be my last visit. If you're going to enforce it hard, you should've turned me away BEFORE you took our money.
