Edo Japan — Restaurant in Calgary

The food is cooked well here and the staff is usually great but for some reason one of the ladies working there was so rude to me. I asked for no extra terikay sauce with my sushi and she still brought out the cup to me at the end which wasn't a problem because I told her to just take it back. So I go back home and I see that my food has no sauce so I call them and she answers. I tell her that there's no sauce on my food which she replies and keeps repeating herself with "oh but you told me no sauce so I put no sauce. It's the same sauce ma'am. Why would you want sauce on your food if it's the same sauce? You told me no sauce" and I simply explained to her that just because I didn't like the sauce with my sushi doesn't mean that I don't like the sauce on my food. Then she tried arguing with me saying that she gave me extra sauce because it was for my food which made no sense. The receipt didn't even say no sauce for my food. She told me to just bring my receipt and they'll give me a new one. When I got there she tried getting mad at me because I didn't bring my cold food so they could warm up. And she told me to just bring my receipt. I threw the food away because she said receipt only. I wouldn't have had a problem with bringing the food back... so then she tries scolding me over it... I told her if I wanted warm food I would have just microwaved it and not drove back... even after they started making my food she came back to lecture me about how it's the same sauce and if I don't like it with sushi I shouldn't have it at all. Crazy ass...

I want to politely agree with the comments here today... I always come in asking for fresh meat and I would wait for it to be fresh... Today I had an issue with it being fresh my meal was handed to me and I was told fresh. Four people working not one could put fresh meat down they just told me it was fresh. I don't know if it's incompetence or the fact that they don't want to do their job even though there's four people there.... I asked for fresh meat I require fresh meat even if it takes a few extra minutes to make it. Today I received my order quicker than I've ever seen in order come out including the skip the dishes orders. When I request fresh meat I require fresh meat, meaning put fresh meat on and do it for my order but apparently someone else's "fresh order" was included in my fresh order. You guys got to figure this out because it's getting to the point where if the manager's not there you are getting old food in a styrofoam container from yesterday which I witnessed today. Thanks guys....

I'm genuinely saddened to witness businesses in northeast Calgary facing severe criticism on Google for easily resolvable issues that could be addressed directly with the restaurant; whether its a local business or a franchise. I've been a patron of this Edo location since my high school days, and as far as I know, the ownership remains unchanged. The team has consistently shown kindness, maintained fair service/wait times, and kept the place impeccably clean; to mention their renovations too! Just picked up a takeout order, and the yam roll and teriyaki chicken rice bowl were both exceptional—10/10. Every visit here is a positive experience, and I sincerely wish the owner and this franchise location...
