Eggsmart — Restaurant in Calgary

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. And yes I said “place” over restaurant as this establishment doesn’t even deserve the title of being a restaurant. Terrible food, bland and over done. They refused to make any substitutions on orders and wanted us to pay $20 a plate with additional costs (and we’re talking simple substitutions such as changing a pancake to a waffle). When we finally get our food served, everything is pretty bland, and then I get to my waffle (that mind you I’ve paid an extra $8 for) and it’s burnt on one side, I take two bites as I don’t really want to complain, but it’s inedible. Our waiter, who also happened to be the franchise owner had stopped checking on our table since the time we tried to make substitutions to our orders, my boyfriends glass sat empty until even though he walked past our table multiple times and he did not once ask how our food was in this time we were eating, so when he finally comes to the table to clear our plates, I told him the waffle was burnt on the one side and that I wanted some sort of compensation for it, and he refused, saying I’d ate too much of it because I had taken more than one bite and that I should’ve told him when I first got my plate even through the waffle was the last thing I ate and he never came over to the table. This is the franchise owner, I had no one else to ask for any compensation and I was stuck paying for disgusting food and terrible customer service. I took this through corporate and they are only willing to send me a gift card as compensation- but, do they really think I ever want to step foot in one of their Restaurants again? This was a terrible waste of time to end up with terrible food and service and a $40 breakfast bill, and then after all of that only being offered a gift card as compensation, and having to go through corporate in order to get this compensation. If you are serving burnt food I’d strongly suggest you compensate people when they ask for it. Learn to cook, and learn to deal with customers in a decent manner or I don’t see this business lasting more...

Walking into the restaurant it had a great atmosphere and it was buzzing with customers. We were met with very quick service and orders were taken in a timely manner. The food took a bit to come out but that's understandable as it was busy. Food was a bit disappointing, eggs to the omelet were pretty dry. My partner wasn't impressed. Flavors were great otherwise. The fruit side was disappointing. We had a half a centimeter slice of cantaloupe and a half a centimeter slice of an orange.... I know inflation is an issue but you can't possibly call that a "side" of fruits right? They also had a decent size bowl of fruits in their menu pictures. Let's just say I'm glad blueberries wasn't in season because it probably would have been half of a berry 😅. Also I would change the one "$" rating on the reviews as it was as pricy as humpty's/Cora's with half the serving size! 😂

As new locals to the Neighborhood I would definitely avoid coming again.

Options for all diets and budgets. I'm not on any specific diet but I do like to try to try to balance animal products with plant based whole foods; this is often hard to do at when eating out. Ehgssmart has some great options. My breakfast was fresh, healthy, delicious and much better priced than any other breakfast or brunch cafe I've found in the city. ($13) I'll eat here over OEB any day! They also launched a feature Keto menu. Service was lovely - the entire staff interacted with my daughter who is a year and a half and very social ATM. It was sweet and really made us feel welcome and appreciated. (it was also not during peak hours so they were able to do this without it interfering with business). My husband was a bit underwhelmed with his scrambler bowl but he was overtired and a bit grumpy. Looked good from my side of the table. Lol. Kids menu is value priced at $4.99 a dish.
