Shawarma Grill & Meat Shop — Restaurant in Calgary

Visited this place on a whim since it is near our church and am SO GLAD we did!!! The first time we went it was just us in the restaurant so we got to speak with the owner. We dined-in and he put in so much extra effort and care into the presentation of our meals. The owner was so nice and so accommodating. Apparently he recently took ownership and which made me sad that it was empty around dinner time. The portions were massive and quality was exceptional. Better than any other shawarma place we have been to across the country!!

We were so impressed when our church was having a dinner group 4 weeks later I recommended that we cater it from my new favorite shawarma place. Placing the order was seamless and they went ABOVE AND BEYOND with the amount of food. There was enough for seconds and for everyone to take home a plate. Everything was ready on time and was delicious!

If I could rate 6...

The owner is very friendly, and the place appears quite clean. Ordered chicken shawarma platter, and the chicken was really tasty, just like the home made hummus.

However, I have to give it only 3 stars for my first impression for the following reasons:

Both my friend and I found a human hair in our plates (maybe coincidence, but...).

Potatoes were quite undercooked.

Something was off with the taste of limited assortment of veggies available to order. Specifically, the red cabbage seemed too dark, too hard to chew, and somewhat too sour in comparison with other shawarma places I visited.

Went into this new shawarma place in Midnapore mall a bit sceptical about trying a new place but thought what the heck lets support local. I walked in and ordered to shawarma not paying attention that they had donairs. Once I realized they had donairs it was to late as he already made them. He actually said that he would make me a free donair as he could see the look of dismay on my face. I refused but bought one and one to try both. Well to my surprise, I loved them BOTH. You must check out this new place in Midnapore Mall. Truly a hidden gem. Reasonable prices that will fill your stomach.
