A TRUE HIDDEN GEM

Jumped out for a lunch date with my beautiful daughter Jaica, owner of Tipper Records @tipperrecords and as we walked around we decided on Flipp'n Burgers @flippnburgers right here in our beautiful @kensingtonyyc !!

When you see it from the outside you are instantly drawn to it, as it holds a sort of "old school" vibe that you would come across in places like the Bronyx, New York etc.

Complete with a table outside on the sidewalk to enjoy your meal!!

When ordering the owners are there cooking away, smiling and interacting with you. The girl at the cash, equally as professional.

Small chatter is heard from all the tables, and plenty of smiles and laughter.

In the 3rd pic you can see how big my first bite was....and hey some say I've got a big mouth ....so.....

Ummm this is hands down some of best food I have ever tasted....period.

The quantity matched by the quality is insane, with nothing spared, this burger you see was plain and simply "all hands on deck".

The fries have that amazing taste of fry truck done right.

My daughter and I are encouraging you to stop in there and experience this. I guarantee this will become your new stop during the day!!

I walked by one day, saw the cute logo and told myself IT LOOKS SO GOOD that I want to try it some day.

Then I saw in the tabloids that they gave out free burgers to the homeless population during Christmas, which was basically free advertisement for them and knew NOW I REALLY WANT TO TRY IT!

I tried this place today (Aug 22) and sad to say I was disappointed with my experience!!! For starters, the Creamsicle milkshake was actually brown instead of orange like I was expecting, so not sure what to think of that.

Secondly, I think the cashier misunderstood my question when I asked "DO THE FRIES HAVE SKINS?" and he said no (but I didn't understand what he even said because of his accent) and when I got the fries, THEY DID HAVE SKINS! But then again, I saw the potatoes in the boxes on the shelf across from the kitchen and they were SMALL, DARK AND UGLY, so should have expected they would be a disappointment, lol...

As for THE ACTUAL BURGER, the bun is as big as my face and the meat patty does not make up for the oversized bun. The lettuce had discolored edges and was romaine, which is just a stem and no leaf, I couldn't eat it. The meat patty itself was just slapped onto the grill, no seasonings. The burger relies solely on the toppings and sauces to give it flavor.

It was over $20 that I spent here and it was a disappointment! I don't think I would try this place...

Extremely disappointed and upset with Flipp’n Burgers. I called ahead of time to ask about protocols surrounding gluten free and was assured they change their gloves and follow all the precautions. After I ordered my meal, I sat down to wait for it and watched the preparation of the food. There is no following a protocol for handling a gluten free burger for a gluten allergy. The buns (gluten free and regular) are toasted on the same grill as everything else together. They did not have different tongs or utensils for anything. My burger was cooked beside everything else including regular gluten buns and was touched with the same gloves and tongs that touched everything else. My gluten free bun was placed down on the wrapping paper right beside a gluten bun and then I watched the lady preparing them switch the papers of my gluten free bun with the gluten containing bun. My gluten free bun was wrapped in a wrapping that just before had a regular bun on it not to mention was also touched by the same gloves that handled every other burger. As well, the toppings are cross contaminated with gluten. They use the same gloves to touch the buns that they do to grab the toppings. Flipp’n Burgers is not safe for anyone with a gluten allergy or Celiac Disease. Their gluten free would only be good enough for someone who is just...
