Fresh Blend Coffee & Sandwich Bar — Restaurant in Calgary

Have been going here for coffee, sandwiches and snacks for a very, very long time and have loved the food and friendly service until today when service was so brusque that I felt compelled to leave a review about it.

Our four person family with small kids found the owner and/or worker rushing us through ordering at the counter, even though no one was behind us. The same person then started helping a new arrival before I could even get our stuff off of the counter or finish paying (with a substantial tip). Our food was brought out one piece at a time, instead of together. It is still enjoyable though they’ve changed the bread recently, for the worse.

When we finished I asked where a recycling bin was and the same worker seemed annoyed I bothered them before curtly directing me to a dish bin that had no recycling sign on it. As I tried to pick up the last of my items off the table, she started wiping it down and grabbed my items from me before shoving them into my hands and directing me out the door.

Appreciating that some folks have off days, the same attitude did not seem to be displayed toward others customers. And I always do my best to ensure I am polite and courteous so I’m quite at a loss. I can only hazard a guess that my visible tattoos (which I have always had but have added more since my last visit) offended this person, perhaps?

It was such an unexpected and uncomfortable experience that, even after such a long patronage of Fresh Blend, I have decided to no longer be a customer there. Though I have a suspicion that was entirely...

I normally don’t give bad reviews, however this cafe needs to be called out for its poor customer service. I admit I walked into the cafe to use the restroom. Normally if there is the owner at the counter I would ask if it’s ok to use the facilities. If a purchase is required I don’t mind paying for something.

Since no one was present at the front I proceeded to the restroom. As I was walking out one of the employees (I am assuming the owner) asked me if I spoke English. I said yes and he informed me that their was a sign which said washrooms for customers only. The sign was small and rather discrete. He later pointed to the floor and mentioned I tracked water into his store and then pointed to another similar sign. He asked me again if I spoke English...I again responded yes. At this point I offered to purchase an item and apologized if I made a mess. He again asked for the third time if I spoke English! I mean this is getting to be insulting and quite frankly unnecessary. I then tell the employee to stop speaking to me in such a manner and if the store policy was such that I was more than happy to make a purchase but NO ONE deserves to be treated so poorly, especially if they are indicating that they understand what you are saying.

After reviewing some other people and their experiences with this cafe it seems that their really needs to be more public awareness about this establishment and its customer service. I wish you well in the future and really hope you do some self reflection on how you...

Went with a friend earlier today, we were welcomed with a friendly smile and polite greeting by one of the staff immediately, which was refreshing. Browsing the menu was easy and we were offered help promptly, though we didn’t need it.

The menu sported a variety of yummy treats, drinks, snacks, and even meals, though I only tried a ginger cookie and the “Calgary fog” tea today. My friend tried the peanut butter-marshmallow square and a hot chocolate. The staff was kind enough to serve our drinks to us at the table we chose!! We were both very pleased, the drinks were lovely and the treats were tasty.

The location has a busy parking lot, but overall is convenient as it’s close to transit and the parking lot may be busy but does usually have room for parking in spite of that.

Despite the shop itself also being busy at times, I noticed the staff working hard to keep everyone happy, behind the counter running smoothly, and keeping the area tidy.

Overall, a great little coffee shop with a lot to offer and fantastic customer service, I will definitely be returning and 10/10 would recommend!!
