My colleagues and I come here to have team dinners about every three months. We’ve been attending The Keg for our team dinners for years and have always received good service. However, after last night I’m not sure our party of 10 will go back. I understand we are a big group but what happened last night was unacceptable and not even one apology or accountability was given for their behavior. Normally in the past we’ve had 1 server, but last night we had 2 servers - Maria and Zac, we thought this was great because we’d be receiving better service than having one server but it turned out to be a big mess. There was clearly lack of communication between the 2 servers, constantly coming after each other and repeating the same question. From the start we felt like we were being rushed out of there. There was a duplicate for a drink when our table only ordered one but Zac tried to pawn off on me as if I had ordered it. When I told him I didn’t he was surprised. Then, someone ordered their steak medium rare but that thing was well done. There was no apology they took the plate back brought out the new steak and still no apology or credit towards the meal. 2 people at our table were still actively eating when Zac decides to ask if he wanted his steak in the box. They constantly kept asking if they wanted a box while they were still eating or to bring the bills. Then we got our bills, my friend gave $50 cash to Zac but he decided to put the whole bill amount on the machine as if my friend hadn’t given my $50 prior. I understand mistakes happen but Zac told my friend to just tap, which insinuates that he’d be giving himself a $50 tip. When we tried to correct the issue Zac gave us an attitude as if we were a bother. After that Zac said goodnight and didn’t realize he didn’t take the payment of 2 other people. Again back to the lack of communication between Maria and Zac as they were both taking the payments at our table. Because we are honest people we had to track down Zac, in which we waited another 20 minutes. Maria came out and immediately on the defensive and said “what’s the problem”. I explained the situation to her and immediately she said, “this is not my fault, this is Zac’s fault he should’ve taken the payment”. This really irked me as it lacked professionalism and accountability. The issue wasn’t whose fault it was but rather apologize and take the payment. Zac came out and begrudgingly took our payment as if it was our fault that 2 people were missed. My colleague decided to pay partially in cash and Zac had the audicity to remind him that he would be tipping on $27 dollars on the machine. This was very off putting and degrading as he had provided such terrible service and attitude. My colleagues and I were very unhappy with the overall experience. The manager, Maria, and Zac had many opportunities throughout the night to deliver an apology and rectify the situation but no accountability took place we were made to feel as if it was all our fault, we did not feel welcomed. I’m not sure...
Read moreWe made plans to dine at this new Keg location on a Wednesday night. We were a party of 4 with myself in a wheelchair. When we arrived at the restaurant we were quickly greeted by the hostess and asked if we wanted to wait for the rest of our party prior to being seated or if we wanted to be seated first. We knew our friends were just behind us so we asked to be seated. When we entered the dining area, the first impression was they fit a lot of tables into one rectangular room. The perimeter of the room were booth seating against the wall with chairs sitting opposite the booth. The inside of the rectangle were all square tables with arm chairs. We were seated at the first square table we hit in the room. It appeared to be in a high traffic area and my wheelchair kept getting hit. My husband suggested to our friends to help move the table in more (there was space) to make room for the servers and other customers to be able to comfortably get by.
The room was very busy with all of the tables having customers. Our server didn’t greet us right away but when he did he made up for it in the service he provided. Quickly gave us the specials for the day and took our drink orders. Two of us at the table had dietary allergies so a manager cane to greet us. We put in our orders and continued chatting. We didn’t notice we didn’t get our drinks until our appies appeared. While the appies were being put on the table, our server came running with our drinks. I had to ask for the bread and our server apologized continuously and brought us bread right away. Our appies were delicious. We got the bacon wrapped scallops and escargot.
When our meals arrived, our plates looked great. Unfortunately, our friend’s steak was overcooked for a medium. We mentioned it our server and the issue was quickly rectified. We had the server apologize, then a manager came and apologized and then the new steak was served by the chef who also apologized. All individuals continuously asking if there was anything else that they could do. We continued our evening catching up. When we got the bill we were surprised to find out that her meal was comped. We weren’t expecting that. All of our steaks were as ordered and delicious and once our friend’s steak was corrected she loved her steak as well. They rectified the issue so quickly that the rest of us were still eating when she got her new steak. So she didn’t have to eat by herself. We got dessert and got the bill and left very happy campers. Mistakes happen but enjoyed the new restaurant and the staff. We definitely be back. We were also thankful it was wheelchair accessible. The old stadium location by the hospital was not...
Read moreI'll preface with a HUGE thank you to the staff working 10/02/2021 after 9PM.
The three of us just watched the second Venom movie and we felt like capping the night with dinner. A quick google showed this restaurant was just a walk away, just under 500m from the theatre.
We asked if we can be seated and we proved that we had our vaccinations. There was hand sanitizer when you walked in and the staff were wearing masks. I feel for the staff on that part. I wear mine for 10 minutes and I absolutely hate it. So huge props to you guys for working during this mess and keeping safe for everyone else.
We ordered our drinks, which was really delicious. My rum and coke came in a small tumbler and a highball glass. Allowing me to pour my own coke. This must be so the customer knows how much liquor they're getting, which is thoughtful. If not, I still like it.
I forget the name of the meal itself, but I ordered the blackened chicken with fries, as the garlic potatoes were 86ed. Our wonderful server did let us know what was done for the evening. The asparagus was slim and not a lot was put on the plate. Which was completely OK, with the market, supply and demand, etc. it's hard to imagine full grown asparagus on the plate. I still enjoyed them. The fries were shoestring and typical. The shrimp and scallops in the white sauce were typically overcooked and slightly rubbery. This was no surprise to me. I still enjoyed their flavour and nothing tasted or smelled off. The blackened chicken breast was cooked perfectly. The sear was perfect and the outside had a bit of a crunch with the spicy rub. Inside was moist and not overcooked, juicy with a perfect texture. I find restaurants are always overcooking breasts and I'm left eating a dry piece of meat. This is one meal I'll be ordering again, that is for sure.
After a length of time being indoors, almost a year, it was really refreshing to have a good meal in a restaurant. I enjoyed eating here. The staff, the food, the atmosphere...all great. Thanks so much to the people that work here, you have no idea how...
