I am disgusted by what this neighbourhood establishment has become - I have been coming here for over 20 years and today was my last time. I called in an order and asked to substitute the fries with a salad, the guy asked if I wanted garden, Greek or Caesar - I would have expected to pay an upcharge to substitute - but when I arrived he was charging me for a full Caesar salad along with the normal charge of the meal. I was confused with the charge so asked him and this is when he told me that he charged me for a separate Caesar salad. I said, ok give me the house salad then, if you are charging me full price for a side salad and said I think it is important you advise your clients of what you are doing. When he brought the order out, he didn’t bring my full food order (which I realized when I got home - ps my father was waiting for his meal as he is diabetic)…they forgot the lasagna, the second meal. I called in and the girl who answered the phone said “the manager is not in, you can call back at 530.” I went on to explain the situation and she responded by saying “you have two options, you can either come back and get it or I can put your name in our book and you can pick it up at another time” - no apology, no seeking to understand, nothing. I asked her name and she refused to give it to me, saying “I don’t think you need that.”. I asked to speak to the lady who helped me when I was there, and she handed it to someone else - that woman went on to encourage the behaviour of the young girl who just spoke to me, saying she was sitting right next to her. I responded by saying that I was disturbed by the response that I had received when I was not in the wrong and am in shock at the level of service and how rude the staff had become - I was met with “you have NOT seen rude yet.” Disgusted. Sadly - as I uncovered my order was wrongly charged at the restaurant, another couple seated at the entrance interrupted the waitress to speak on my behalf and say that nobody even apologized to me for the error - ps they were also sitting there because their order was wrong and they were waiting as it was remade. I had to reorder food from another restaurant and my father ate alone for my sister’s ruined birthday dinner - thank you for a great evening...
Read moreI am never returning to this place. We live next door and came here every weekend to get out of the house, have a couple drinks and hang out. It was very convenient being so close. The food is BAD, always have been, we don't order from the food menu. We have tried the pizza, pasta, apps, steaks, and it's all been similar to the "no name" you buy from the grocery store. We came in one evening to celebrate our eariler engagement, and after working a long day at work. The server who worked in the lounge served us, and we have come to regonize her quite well, she has worked there for a long time. Anyhow she asked us what we wanted, asked for our IDs and what not. She was about to go grab us a beer and then said "I won't serve you. You look drunk". I said "we have not had a single drop of alcohol. we just got off work, and we are here to celebrate an engagement". I showed her the ring and she just snarked and rolled her eyes and said "you look a little young to be getting married". I asked to talk to the manager. He looked like a high school student and did not have the customer service to say anything. He just grinned while the gentleman beside him explained how it was the servers judgement and how it could relate to legal issues and whatnot. I understand that, and I would accept it and leave if I had been drinking. We have come in the resteraunt so many times, and that same server would often push us to order another beer "Common!! are you sure you don't want one more", yet that day she ignored us completely, not to mention insulted me on what should have been one of the best days I could remember. 24 is not too young to get married.... the nerve. I emailed them and said I wanted apology and weeks later they never said anything back. This place is unprofessional. They won't serve you sober, yet they served my brother once to the point where he passed out in resteraunt drunk. We...
Read moreWe bought the takeout "Four Can Dine for $50!" menu item. It was ready with only a five minute wait (the restaurant was slammed because it was supper time). The upside was that the items were still piping hot when I got home. The order included a large two topping pizza, an order of baked lasagna, a Caesar salad, garlic toast and four cans of soda. There were so many bags of food I felt compelled to ask the manager if we had got someone else's order. Here is what I thought of the meal. Firstly, the hot was hot (pizza/lasagna ) the cold was cold (salad/soft drinks). Matador's pizzas are always top notch, it is our go to place. The mozzarella cheese was thick and stringy (I wonder where they get the cheese?). There are only two of us so we went with the pizza/salad combo for supper keeping the lasagna for supper the next day. The Caesar salad was made with crisp romaine lettuce and nicely dressed. It wouldn't last until the next day hence it was paired with the pizza. The lasagna came in a disposable aluminum pie plate with a sealed lid so we just popped it into the fridge. The pizza and salad gave us 3 full adult servings, the lasagna a further 3 full meals. They promised four meals, we got six! We didn't eat the garlic toast (a bit pedestrian) with all of the other excellent fare and the soft drinks were Pepsi products and I am a Coke guy but hey, comprises are sometimes necessary. Let's sum up the value. A drive-through burger/fries/drink meal could be about $18 - $20 (no salad) per person for a cost of up to $80 for four adults. This premium meal was less than $10/person. We will order Matador's "Four can Dine" meal again. Sorry, no pictures of the food, I was too hungry...
