Today marked our final visit to this bakery, and it’s unfortunate to say so after being loyal customers for quite some time. We were excited to indulge in the raspberry tart with white chocolate cream and raspberries, planning to share the experience with my 2-year-old daughter. However, our excitement quickly turned to disappointment upon discovering a raspberry marred by dark spots or dirt at its core.
We brought this concern to the attention of the two attendants present. One dismissed it, claiming it was chocolate, while the other cited impaired vision without their glasses. This lack of clarity was disheartening, especially considering that upon checking the other tarts available, they all seemed pristine. Despite a lengthy discussion, the attendant who initially dismissed our concern refused to acknowledge any fault.
A genuine acknowledgment and apology would have been appreciated, but unfortunately, that was not the case. The attached picture doesn’t fully capture the raspberry’s imperfections, which were indeed numerous and concerning. It’s concerning to think that my daughter also consumed the tart, and I hope she won’t fall ill.
Moreover, the decline in quality extends beyond the raspberry tart to their macarons. They’re now disappointingly squishy and lack the crispness they once had.
Additionally, while their hot chocolate remains a popular choice, it’s just not as special as we hoped. It lacks that unique touch and tastes like any standard powdered hot chocolate you’d find at home.
Despite these disappointments, my husband went into the store again to have a private conversation, hoping to see if integrity could be shown. Unfortunately, the attendant who thought it was chocolate mistakenly attributed it to another dessert, and even after clarifying that it was from the tart, he still chose to insist it was chocolate. Integrity was still lacking, and the attendant took my husband’s information, claiming that the owner would reach out to him.
Taking into account these recurring disappointments and the lack of accountability from the staff, we’ve sadly decided to stop...
Read moreI have enjoyed a few things from good bread. I previously had a cruffin that was salted caramel and it was tasty which lead me to attempt ordering three cruffins for my daughters birthday. I ordered in advance last week and as far as I knew I met all requirements to pick up my order on Monday. On Monday at my pick up time (12:45pm) I went in and asked for my order. The staff had no clue what I was talking about. They had completely forgotten to fill my order and the flavours I had ordered were already sold out. I had already told my daughter about a special treat so I decided to get the ones available which was vanilla and cream cheese. My daughters enjoyed the cream cheese but were disappointed that the other flavour was unavailable which is frustrating as I went in out of my way and ordered in advance. I had the vanilla. It was gross. Maybe rotten I don’t know but zero stars for vanilla cruffin. Two stars because this was my first bad experience and the girls though it was still fun to try a new treat. I was very upset. They offered me a free cream cheese cruffin which is not even eaten as it was not that good and I’m totally put off by my expirience.
Update: The owner reached out to me and apologized. She went out of her way to help us feel better about our experience, she informed me that the way they take order in advance has been updated. I’m hopeful that no one else has my experience and sounds to me like the bakery has updated all the issues I had with...
Read moreDecided to take a chance this Saturday morning on this new place. And W O W I'm glad I did! I don't often write reviews but I felt it was absolutely needed with this place.
Firstly the inside is beautiful. Loved the decor and how open and clean it was. The staff welcomed us with big smiles happy to help. They were very patient with our indecisiveness - it was hard to choose!
We walked out with boxes of goodies. The strawberry cream crossiant made me transcend time and space. The cinnamon buns were unlike anything we've tried and the macaroons were lovely. The Gruffins had the entire house echoing with "Oh my GOD". The brioche bread was looking mighty gorgeous so had to snag a loaf up. A kind employee told us they were just testing out the recipie for this and they weren't quite sure about it yet so they would give us a loaf to try for free!
To top it off, I had one of the best hot mochas I've had in the city. All in all this was a five star experience and I absolutely urge everyone in Acadia to check this new...
