On Aug. 28 2015 ordered via drive thru. I had issues with not getting the right toppings before, so ordered 2 burgers with exactly the same toppings to help. Arrived home and toppings were not what I expected. Checked the bill and the order was taken properly but 1 topping missing from each burger. On the bottom of the bill Head Office asks for feedback. Called to let them know that order was taken correctly but missed on execution. I was informed someone from the store would get back to me within 24 to 48 business hours. It was a Friday, so assumed no one would get back to me until mid-week. On Sept 23, still no reply. I phoned head office again. They said wait another 24 to 48 business hours and someone from the store would contact me. 30 mins later a manager from the store phoned me. He said, he had no time to respond to every email he got from head office. And, somebody at head office screwed up. I disconnected the call as he gave me excuse after excuse for not calling back, yet offered no resolution. Called Head Office a 3rd time. It was escalade to a district manager. I was told the district manager would be contacting me between 24 to 48 business hours. I asked, "What does that mean? It's more than 25 days, I guess. Because nobody got back to me in that time after the first call. After much prompting from me the person assured me a phone call before 2:30 pm MDT on Friday Sept 25. On Thursday Sept 24, the store owner phoned me. She said she remembered every detail of my order (26 days and hundreds of burgers later). And my order was made properly. She called me a stupid liar. I asked why would I phone Head Office if I had no issue? She said I was trying to get her to pay for free burgers. And again said I'm a liar. I said I was not interested in 2 79 cent cheeseburgers and hung up and called head office again. I was allowed to talk to the district manager after much begging. He just got off the phone with the store owner. He took the owners side and my issue was...
Read moreFirst off I want to acknowledge that I love Harvey’s burger. Every time I think of good burger restaurant Harvey’s come to mind. Unfortunately Harvey’s restaurants are becoming few in Calgary. So, my experience is not anything to with food but same one ignorant guy who for the second time made me mad. It’s this guy with beard 5’5 feet tall probably from Philippines who for the first time he served me fries that are like left overs or scrambles or should I say fries that look like you had finished all the long ones and completing the scrambled at the bottom. When I told him why, he ignorantly say but “sir you have eaten them have through thought “ I told him if I did why should I complain then? Very bad customer skills.
Second experience with the same guy on August 17 I ordered double angers and told him to upgrade the the fries to large but for some reason I got regular fries. When told the server I ordered the upgraded fries which is large, she told me I ordered regular. When this guy is called he told the server if I need the large fries, I should be charged again. I told him no I won’t get waste my time going back to the till to pay for the freaking fries. He totally deny I never ordered large fries. His denial is what freaks me out and completely made me believe the guy is ignorant or does not understand what the customer orders or simply he just doesn’t pay attention to all customers like me. Someone need to have him retrained or make sure he confirms customers orders before he made him or her pays for the order. To all the workers at this Harvey’s, always always confirm customers order before you make them pay for what they didn’t order.
That is my rant after two incidents with...
Read moreI have been a Harvey's superfan for 47 years. Starting in kitchener Ontario and then out west.
In the last few years I have had my Harvey's fix when I visit Calgary. The one I attend is in Brentwood Mall.
Today I finally decided to speak about my feelings on what was once a great Canadian Institution. Harvey's is all about a fresh beef Pattie cooked and in the final few seconds the cheese put on the burger while it is almost cooked. A slightly toasted bun and on go the topping that you choose.
Today another bad experience at Harvey's in Brentwood Mall. I will ordered a cheese burger, poutine and a drink to have at the restaurant.
My burger popped up in 10 seconds. The Hun was cold as if it just came out of the fridge. And the cheese was not melted on the burger. It was put on under the buger like processed cheese just out of the fridge. The poutine was fine.
I don't know how others who have had harvey's over the decades feel. My take when corporations such as Cara Foods which I believe still owns Harvey's in Canada don't instill their burger philosophy into their staff especially new immigrants who now seem to be all over corporate franchisees in Canada and don't have them deliver what it took to make them great... Then it's a matter of time before they go out of business.
This is now all to familiar in Canada. I am an immigrant who arrived here in 72'and came with nothing. We embraced Canadian culture and have been awesome contributors like so many to Canada.
New immigrants it seems of most backgrounds just don't seem to get it. Sad, very Sad...
