I haven't been to this pub in.Ages, and I went with a friend this afternoon. They had a limited menu due to the football game. I was going to order a cobb salad, but the waitress told me she would get me a side salad with a side of protein which was steak. Unbelievable because she charged me double the price. That would have cost for a cobb salad so twelve dollars for the plain house salad and seventeen dollars for a side of steak. My friend had a Turkey club with a Sprite. And I had their box a special and the bill came out to sixty five dollars. Won't be returning even though the atmosphere was great. The prices and the food are definitely not worth it. There's a million other pubs out there that I can go to with better food and half the price. Quite unfortunate because in that area it's hard to find a good pub. This is not one of them when it comes to the prices and the food. I could have went to the cag and for $10 more.Had two excellent meals for 2 people But my good friend Raves about the wings and raves about the place. And I didn't want to complain in front of him to the waitress and embarrass him. Frankly, that waitress knew what she was doing when she was up charging me. I work in the service industry, and never would I ever do anything like that. For a good atmosphere Of a pub, you really need to do better And not rip your patrons off. And if you're going to tip, do it with cash because their percentages on their machine are far higher than any other machine.I've ever seen when I have paid with a card with the percentage...
Read moreStandard tipping in Canada is 15%. A number of local establishments have unscrupulously set their payment machines to 18% as the lowest tip option. These guys have set theirs to 20%. If you want to add a normal tip you have to pull out your calculator in front of the waiter who’s standing right over you.
This exploits customers who can’t see well, have social anxiety, are caregiving, aren’t good at math, and anyone else with a disability or anxiety.
As for the food, the service, the ambiance: Who cares? These guys are exploiting you.
Mugs, what do you have to say for yourselves?
Edit following response from Brett at Mugs:
It seems that you’re trying to turn the table, put the spotlight on how I’m calling you out rather than what you’ve done to be called out. So I’ll repeat the question: Your credit card machine is set to exploit people, with a minimum preset tip at 20%, this is 5% higher than Canadian standard. What do you have to say for yourself?
I’m also interested to come see if you’ve rectified this since being called out. My...
Read moreCame here on a Saturday night because of a recommendation from a friend. I was told that the steak sandwich was popular, so I thought I'd give it a try. As you can see (or maybe not see in the attached photo as it's obscured by the onion rings), it's the smallest steak sandwich I've ever had. Having said that, it was flavorful, and I would have gladly paid more for a larger portion. After the mini steak, I decided to order a small Hawaiian pizza to fill the gap. When it arrived, it looked like a blackened pizza. Another guest at the table who has been there before said, "I'm surprised they served that to you because normally it looks a lot better." To top it off, the pop was flat and it was so syrupy sweet I'm not sure if it was actually Coca-Cola. Maybe they had an off night, but there are so many other pubs that have consistently good food and beverages that it would be hard to justify a return trip. On a positive note, the chicken wings that my guest ordered were a decent size and were on special that night, so...
