Thomson Family Park — Attraction in Calgary

Nice little park with a skating rink in the winter time. It’s well lit during the night and is usually not too busy in the evening as well, great for pandemic social distancing. Haha! This park also has a nice giant slide and a small playground for the kids to play at. The design and lighting on this place is very modern and there are some picnic benches and normal benches on the side to sit down and chill out. Parking isn’t too bad, street parking can be tricky during the weekday as you still have to pay during those times but it’s usually free parking in the evening and weekend. A quaint little skating rink if you’re looking for some winter activity.

Went here for the first as I previously was not aware of it. Happened to drive past one day and went for a socially distanced outdoor activity with a friend.

We were the only two for most of our time on a weekday from 2pm-3pm, and one other group of three showed up but that was it. -10 weather but sunny and nice.

Only complaint would be how rough and bumpy the ice was. Obviously not tended to regularly as there is no machine on site to do so, but it was still manageable. Wouldn’t recommend for...

The Thomson Family Park was remodeled recently and they did a great job. The park is clean and simple. There’s a playground for kids, water fountains, places for people to sit and to have a picnic, and a big grassy area for running and playing. Since the rebuild the park has been used by many people and their families. At night it’s bright and beautiful with many lights tastefully arranged throughout the area. I’m very happy with the space.
