We were greeted, the staff was friendly, great service and the food was extremely delish! The environment was small and cozy however the lay out was a bit awkward with a table too close to the bathroom that if you're eating dinner and you can hear someone going to the toliet might be a bit off putting. And it was quite cold as well, as our table was up front near the "bar". However the decor was nice with the wine displayed on the wall and the colors of the restaurant were warm.

As for the food! We ordered 2 appetizers Bruschetta and the Bocconcini Salad. The Bruschetta was very tasty and fresh however there was only enough for maybe 2 pieces maybe 3 pieces of toast that they give you. Just the portion size was too small for the amount of toast served. Also could have used a touch more salt. Other than that it was tasty. The Bocconcini was again fresh and amazing. Just lacking the basil and Balsamic glaze (could have used more as the slices of cheese and tomato are thick)

We then ordered Pasta which was phenomenal! Portion size was perfect! It was flavorful and just so warm and hearty! I do wish there was some garlic bread however I know that is not so traditional.

Also my husband had a glass of wine which he said was super nice and light. I however wished there was a bit more options for Non alcoholic beverages besides pop, juice and coffee/tea. I was hoping for a mocktail or a non alcoholic beer which they did not have any of, as I am pregnant and didn't want a boring cup of tea with my nice pasta dish. Especially on our first experience there.

Overall the experience was nice and we will be going back again!

I posted our Pasta dishes, (don't mind the quality of the pictures as my phone camera is terrible, sorry about that!)

I had the Mushroom and chicken Rose Penne. And the husband had the Shrimp...

Tonight, my bf and I walked down as a prix fixe menu posted for Valentine’s Day on the website looked good. One other time here we had ok food and good service, so figured it was worth trying again (but confused about the ratings/hype?).

Our server greeted us, she had 2 or 3 tables, so not super busy but steady door dasher/skip pick up traffic. We got menus, no drinks, and no mention of the feature dinner option.

First of all, and this is not the server’s fault, but there was a guy with his family doing some kind of a zoom or FaceTime on speaker phone the whole time. Speaker phone blasting. Whoever you are guy, you’re not as important as you think you are and this was 10/10 obnoxious and rude.

Then, there was just constant door dasher and skip traffic, which the only server on completely prioritized. My boyfriend and I sat at an empty table for 15 minutes with no water or drinks, while 4-5 dashers got drinks, went to the bathroom, got their orders completed, and left. To the guy that paced back and forth scowling at us waiting for pick up food, maybe read the room? Anyways the layout for this is terrible here and it was obvious what the priority was (not us).

We actually packed up and left before the server came over, and then she waved us good bye with a friendly greeting…….ok…….

We went one block down to Bion Giorno’s and had fabulous wine (the house wine is Italian, go figure!), food, and exceptional service. It cost a bit more but it was worth every penny. It wasn’t a circus pen for grumpy door dash drivers either!

Go to any other Italian place in the city! This place is unbelievably bad, cheap but you get what you pay...

Nice staff but the food was awful. The portions were far too large, everything was swimming in sauce, and the meat tasted liked it had been cooked in a microwave. Additionally, my partner and I fell ill right after visiting and eating here. Would not recommend. Update: Since uploading the review, the owner has taken steps to find my personal contact information and contact me about the issue. Although there was a refund issued, and it is appreciated, I would like to correct what the owner follow up has said. Since they have gone out of their way to tell their side of the story, which does feature some blatant lies, I will happily write a more detailed review. To start, the cozze was ordered by my partner, he ate all of it out of politeness and agrees there was an absurd amount of sauce. The beef tortellini was also ordered by my partner, and he simply took it home out of politeness, because we threw it out when we went home. The chicken Alfredo and cheese toast were ordered by me. To correct, I ate one piece of chicken, I did not eat “most of the chicken”. The cheese toast was also taken home out of politeness. We definitely did not eat anything that would have made us sick before arriving. I fell violently ill only 10 minutes after leaving the restaurant, and my partner followed in my steps only 20 minutes later. Additionally, I did not appreciate the restaurant going out of their way to find my contact information, and calling me late at night. Hopefully these corrections clear...

YYC Pasta Bar on 17th Ave stands out as a noteworthy dining destination, offering a well-rounded experience for pasta enthusiasts. From the appetizers to the main course, each dish showcased a commitment to quality ingredients and culinary finesse. Starting with the appetizers, the Bruschetta was a delightful introduction to the meal. The combination of ripe tomatoes, fresh basil, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze created a harmonious blend of flavors on a perfectly toasted bread. The Caesar Salad, with its crisp romaine lettuce, tangy Caesar dressing, and generous Parmesan shavings, was a refreshing and well-balanced precursor to the pasta feast. Moving on to the main course, the Penne Chicken Fungi was a standout dish. The al dente penne pasta perfectly absorbed the savory flavors of the tender chicken and earthy mushrooms, creating a satisfying and hearty bite. The Pesto Cream with Cheese Ravioli was a luxurious treat, with the velvety pesto cream sauce complementing the delicate cheese-filled ravioli. The Spaghetti Aglio e Olio, a classic yet demanding dish, impressed with its simplicity and emphasis on quality olive oil, garlic, and chili flakes. The ambiance of the restaurant added to the overall experience, providing a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The attentive service further enhanced the dining experience, with knowledgeable staff members ready to offer recommendations and ensure a pleasant meal.

Amazing food and fantastic service at a great price, our new favourite Italian restaurant in Calgary. —- We went there after a recommendation from a friend and boy were we impressed. Mike is fantastic; that was the best dining experience we have ever had even compared to much more expensive restaurants. He was so funny, thoughtful, and personable throughout the whole night and made us feel really special. The food is delicious; we had the arancini as a starter and it was a cheesy delight. My girlfriend usually isn’t a fan of pasta but she absolutely loved the spaghetti carbonara with a side of garlic toast. We also really enjoyed the lobster ravioli alla vodka and the fettuccini chicken alfredo. Mike wasn’t joking around about the chocolate cake, you must try it. I’ve never had such an airy and decadent chocolate cake, I could eat it every day. I really enjoyed the Italian beer; Birra Moretti, very light, crisp, and refreshing, it was a great pairing with the carbonara and probably any cream sauce dish. Overall I would highly recommend YYC Pasta Bar; the food is delicious and the service is incredible. Huge portions and everything is made fresh in-house all for less than the price of Olive Garden or a comparable restaurant. We couldn’t believe how affordable it was given the amazing experience. Can’t wait to be back for more, thank you Mike!
