Many people have a personal vendetta against this hill, for whatever reasons. If you look at this hill solely for what it is, a ski resort, it's not too bad. It's close to Calgary, gets good snow, and has a wide variety of terrain. However, it's not very steep for the most part and it is quite easy to ride pretty much any trail, if that's what you are into. The gondola ride is annoying, especially when it breaks down and you end up waiting in line, wishing you had gone to another hill... but when you really boil it down, it takes about the same amount of time to get to either hill when Sunshine isn't having Gondy issues... Tourists show up by the bus load and can make for a mid morning rush at the lifts, but if you get there early you can usually get some decent runs in before the snow gets tracked out. If you are having an issue with the flats, might I suggest building some confidence and gaining some speed? Honestly, there are only two spots where I have problems if it's a powder day, but when riding the groomers and using speed I can get up all the berms. The hill up the road has a much worse flat spot on the back side and there aren't any steeps to gain speed for it, so Sunshine wins on the flatness. I won't say it's my fav hill, but all in all you'll have a good time, just as you would at any other hill. How can you not? But I would suggest you bring your own lunch... overpriced and...
Read moreFrom 2012-2015, my family and I purchased sunshine village year passes. It was so worth our while, as we had seven members included in the same price as it would be for four, so it is not hard to see why Sunshine was the obvious choice. The pass also gave us discounts on food and gift store items, and lessons, which we all partook and all us can ski almost everything (myself being the least inclined to do a DB). My kids enjoyed the hot-chocolate and lessons, while us parents could ski or sit in the spacious, ubiquitous and well-maintained lounge areas. Since then, tragically our marriage and family broke apart, so in an effort to inject some more joy back into our lives, I went out on a very shaky limb (financially speaking) and purchased a family pass during the pre-season special. But by mid-January we still had not gone once, and judging from how things were looking ahead, I feared not being able to go at all. This was prior to any worry re: COVID-19, it wasn’t a thing yet, and so I had reached out to the COO of Sunshine, on Link-In, for some sympathy for my plight, truth be told I was in desperate need of the money, and any refund at that time would have been appreciated. Not only did they refund me my entire purchase (over 2K), they offered me a 50% discount should I come up for a day! I was so very grateful, and will support Sunshine in the future! Thank-you...

I had my baby along and me and the baby were planning on just watching the kids and going in and out of the food area as needed to keep the baby warm. However, our experience was tainted from the start. I had to pay over $50 just to get onto the mountain even though I had to go to help my 4&7 year old get to their lesson. I was not skiing or snowboarding just watching. The gondola to get up was completely in accessible. My stroller, which was narrower than a wheel chair could not fit through the door without folding it up. The main food hall and bathrooms were on a second level which again was inaccessible. My husband had help to carry the baby in the stroller up the stairs to get food and to use washrooms. It was not possible for me to manage on the resort without the help of my husband. Normally I’m independent in managing the 3 kids and getting around. We will not be returning for a very long time if ever. I do not ski or snowboard but do go to the hill to watch my kids and Sunshine does not make that an...
