Korilla Korean BBQ — Restaurant in Calgary

Rocky and chef Simon really know how to create the best kbbq experience for customers!

First let’s talk about the food! All meats are extremely good quality, perfectly marinated and fresh and beautifully laid out with explanations of what they are. How detail oriented they are! Side dishes have so many choices and tasty (perfectly balancing with grilled meats) and they are so generous! I’ve never seen a restaurant refilling side dishes without asking. This really shows how genuine they want to take care of their customers! We also had the beef tartare and seafood pancake and kimchi tofu! They are so so so delicious, the best I’ve ever had! So many drinking options, we had jinru is back and it’s always my favourite!

Second, let’s talk about the service! The Korean girl who served us really knows how to serve customers. We are a group of 8 so can understand how much needs we could have. She comes often to check on us, refill sides, help us flip meats, without feeling interrupted. She has a warm smile and serves us with a lot of care! We loved her!

Next, let’s talk about the atmosphere! Simon is a chef from Hyatt and I can tell how much experience he brought to korilla! The washroom, the hallways, the entire spacious restaurant is filled with beautiful lighting and decors, washroom has teeth cleaning products and high end hand soups etc. they also have nice spaces for picture taking! We also got a bunch of free food and drinks on the house which shows how Korean hospitality is!

We also went downstairs for karaoke. The room was new and big and they have a huge selection of songs. Lots of Chinese songs as well! Beautiful lighting and it was very very fun!

Overall, going to korilla was quite an experience! An experience of great quality food, filled with a ton of laughters and joy, and great Korean hospitality! What else would I expect? Really can’t think of any! I’m so proud of the restaurant crew for making this happen and giving the best experience for...

I have had Korean BBQ on many occasions and the dining experience at Korilla far surpassed my expectations.

The servers and management staff take service very seriously, and I felt like a king. Service was fast and efficient. Any requests that I made were dealt with nearly instantly, whether it was asking for a refresh on my beverage, additional items, dips, to-go boxes, etc. Very efficient in all regards. Despite it being the start of dinner rush on a Friday (6:15 reservation) we were seated quickly and our order was taken quickly.

Food arrived promptly, and that's even with a minor computer system glitch (they lost internet for a few minutes).

Food quality was above and beyond my expectations. The quality of the meat, the variety and uniqueness of the side dishes, everything was top notch. We had the beef combo and I added the thick pork belly.

Good quantity of food, and top grade for everything.

They even provide you with a free side of vanilla ice cream at the end of your meal, which is a nice touch.

This is the perfect spot for birthdays (I think they give a birthday cake, but I could be wrong about whether it's free or not, it wasn't our table), dates(?), special occasions, group gatherings, etc.

Be forewarned, it is a loud place, lots of conversations and as is customary, every time a customer walks in the entire staff yells the equivalent to "Welcome to Korilla!" so it is more of a bawdy nightlife vibe. Lots of options for drinks including local craft beer, cocktails, etc. One special offering you can find is "somaek" which is a mixture of beer and soju rice liquour served in a giant multi-serving tap that's placed on your table.

This is a dinning experience to remember. Not only is the food delicious, the plating is beautiful, perhaps even spectacular. I wish I took more pictures. I got immersed in the flavors and atmosphere and forgot. Once upon a time I lived in Seoul in South Korea. Because of the authenticity of the establishment, eating here brought me back to that time. If you can’t fly over to SK this is the next best thing. If I am to be so bold, this place might be better than many of the restaurants in South Korea. Complementary to the food and the interior design, the general atmosphere is positive, welcoming, friendly, and festive. Even the music they play is uplifting, and mirthful. I was happily surprise by a sudden eruption of singing and dancing that paraded to celebrate a certain customers birthday. It had me thinking, I want to bring my friends here on their birthdays. I felt young and full of life. On top of it all the servers were friendly and attentive. Especially Na Rae who was such a blessing upon my evening. Even if all the rest was a flop, I would go back if only to see and be served by her. Truly and honor and a pleasure. It is wonderful to be served by authentic, kind hearted, attentive people. A Jem. She is 💯🌟 I write all these things after going to Korilla Korean BBQ for the first time. I will definitely be back. It’s a great date spot. And a wonder place for friends and families alike. I will be telling all my loved ones all about it. I pray that this place keeps doing all the good that it is doing. And greatly cherishes and cares for the staff they have. And I know that they will remain a wonderful highlight for all who visit Calgary’s 17 ave for a long time to come.
