Murdoch's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Calgary

This review is actually for an experience back in March. I've been fuming about it for a while but, for some reason, just never thought to write a review until someone suggested I do.

I do want to mention that I've ordered from here once before this incident and it was great, hence the second star (otherwise it would've been just one).

So, back in March, I submitted an order on Skip the Dishes. Part of the order was two burgers. I was ordering for two people, including one who had dietary restrictions. Because of that, I noted, on their burger, to ensure there were no sesame seeds.

Eventually, we received our order and my burger was fine but the other burger wasn't a burger. They sent the contents of the burger WITH NO BUN! They must not have had buns without sesame seeds but, instead of calling to ask what we wanted done about it, they sent that. I just don't understand. Who thinks to do that??

Needless to say, I was livid! We were pretty hungry and had just waited a long time for that delivery. I called in immediately and reached who I believe was in charge that evening. He said he was sorry but that there was really nothing he could do. I actually can't remember if he suggested I call back the next day to talk to a manager or if he took down my information so that a manager could call me back.

Either way, I called the very next morning. The response was essentially the same. They themselves can't help me but maybe a manager can. This person I definitely recall taking down my information, including my Skip the Dishes order number. I called back a few times after that to nothing. Eventually I stopped.

You would think that restaurant that seems to be doing well would want to continue doing well and therefore look after their customers. I'm pretty new to the area and love my burgers and pub food so, when I thought I'd found a go-to place, I was thrilled. Instead I got this. It's really just so...

My wife and I came in with a few of our friends for the ever so popular wing night! We had been talking it up to them for while because we are regulars and come ever week! (Mostly for the ranch, Yum!)

Unfortunately, our experience was extremely lacking. Firstly, our server, a blonde girl was extremely dismissive of our table. We sat near the pool table because the pub was understandably busy. She rarely came by, perhaps every 30 minutes. My wife’s friend saw her clearly fake a smile (That was very obvious) to our table and turn her head and roll her eyes.

We have all worked in the service and pub industry and were nothing but kind to her the moment we sat down. Even after this service we tipped her 20% and only then did she begin to treat us like human beings. To be fair, we had never seen her before so, perhaps she was new? She seemed frustrated when we ordered more beers or waters. We understand she could have been tired and perhaps frustrated during her shift but taking that out on loyal customers was frankly rude and disappointing.

We LOVE our other servers that we have had and always have received such welcoming and kind service from them. However we are debating coming back in fear of having her again. Went into Murdoch's for some pool around 5pm on February 8th with my cousin for the first time, we got profiled, and didn't get served for awhile, even after they've seen us come in. The only time they talked to us is when my buddy asked where the ATM was, and during that time as I was waiting for him, I didn't get any service. I thought the one server was sending the other one to serve us, but instead just grabbed the charging station off our table. A few people came in way after us and had been served immediately. It wouldn't have bothered me if it was busy or we were out of view but we sat at the only big long empty table between the entrance and the bar right in their view. It wasnt till my cousin asked the bartender why our charging station was gone as every other table that was empty or occupied, had one. She just kept saying what and made my buddy repeat himself 5 times. Then right after one of the servers finally asked if we were ordering, but we decided not to and left.
