Food was terrible, service was worse, but the decor was lovely. We have been here a few times and thought maybe they just had a couple of off days, not so much... First time - We had a reservation and they had another one booked 15 minutes after us. They kept trying to get us to leave, wouldn't respond when we asked for drinks, and would take plates away as we were eating from them. Second - they seated 3 groups ahead of us, and when we tried to tell them the one hostess waived her hands rudely at us and grumbled something in Mandarin. Finally sat down, no untencils and took us 20 minutes to get drinks. Today - rude servers again, seems to be the theme here. Food (and I use the term loosely) - Buffet was what we had each time. Deserts were old, some hard as rock, dried out and stale and one cake even had mould on it. Main dishes were either too salty, overcooked, cold food was room temperature, hot food was barely warm, and generally flavorless or just nasty. Salads and sushi rolls were bland, wilted or soggy. Soup was the only decent thing. Yuck! Avoid at all costs.

Save your money folks Do Not Go here, they have the smallest portions anywhere in the city, take a look at my lemon chicken it had 5 pieces! are you kidding me. They're excuse is it is a "dinner for 2 portion". Also the portion of rice is ridiculous, they are very stingy with their least expensive ingredient, they should be topping it off rather than a loose couple scoops. Another reason not go here is they were almost shut down for having an issue with raw chicken being left out And they are Expensive, go to Imperial Dynasty they give you a mountain of rice and lemon chicken, I literally got twice as much food for less money. Once again check out Imperial Dynasty off country hills and you won't be disappointed.

We were looking for a late evening dinner and discovered New Dynasty. The decor is absolutely beautiful and it has a very relaxing atmosphere. John took great care of us and made us feel right at home. The ginger beef on the dinner for 2 was beyond exceptional! Great food, reasonable prices and beyond excellent service. We look forward to returning :) Update: Our second visit and excellent once again :) Try the beef brisket and green onion hotpot and the tomato infused fried rice with assorted meats. The ginger and onion with beef hot plate is great as well.

Disgusting restaurant, ive dined here before and then after reviewing the calgary health inspection list, this restaurant really made me decide to never eat here again. For those wondering what was on the list itll be here:

a. Three raw whole chickens and seven raw whole ducks were hanging on metal poles above the food preparation sink at room temperature. The chicken measured 15.6 degrees Celsius. and duck measured between 11.9 to 12.7 degrees Celsius. b. Two containers of sliced chicken were stored at room temperature next to the dishwashing sinks. Chicken measured between 9.7 to 10.9 degrees Celsius. c. A container of sliced fish was thawing in stagnant water in the food preparation sink. The fish measured 21.7 degrees Celsius. d. A container of fried rice was left out on the counter at room temperature. The fried rice measured 34 degrees Celsius. e. There were used cleaning cloths on food contact surfaces and on the wok cook line. f. Several buckets of uncovered sauces were stored underneath the dusty and greasy wok cook line. g. A food container was placed on top of the garbage can. j. There was dust and mold on the standing cooler’s fan unit and dust on top of cooler. k. Uncovered deep fried meats were stored underneath the stand-up cooler’s dusty and moldy fan unit. l. Foods were stored in tin cans. m. Don't waste your time or money here, stay far away. Went for lunch and the first guy said they don't do take-out. Was about to walk away until the second guy showed up and gave me a different menu and said, yep, take out, what do you want? OK.. weird. Ordered a combo that came with choice of 2 proteins, and some veggies and rice.

It was not a very large portion like you'd expect and receive elsewhere. Not small either, but I was expecting an overloaded container which is what they usually get at other take out places.

Finally, food is ready and I get handed a bag with no utensils or napkins or soy sauce. I had to ask for each one individually. When I asked for soy sauce, he gave me one packet. I asked for another and he said no....... what?? Alright, stingy on the soy sauce. He also took the fortune cookie off the counter so that I couldn't have one with the meal.

I wish the bad stopped there. The food was very hot and fresh, which is all the good I have to say. It was very bland, between the Ginger beef and the sweet and sour pork, they both tasted almost indistinguishable despite the obviously different sauce colourings. Both bland, not very interesting. The steamed veggies were pretty soggy and gross. The rice was more like soup with all the excess sauce at the bottom - which honestly normally I would like, but since the sauce didn't really taste like anything, I felt like I was eating carbs for no reason. I made it about 3/4 of the way through the meal before I thought... why am I still eating this? I threw the rest out. And I am definitely not one to waste food at any opportunity. I'm the "leftovers" person that takes everyones scraps when they don't want them, but this wasn't even worth it here.

Speaking of worth - value was abysmal. $20 for one bland flavoured combo box. Considering you could go get a pizza for $15 or a combo meal basically anywhere else for roughly the same, this was egregious.

Seriously, go ANYWHERE else to...

This is an overdue review. My whole family used to like going to this restaurant for the buffet fairly regularly many years ago since it used to be really quite good. Recently my partner and I were craving chinese food and decided to go back here as it'd been so long, several years since my last visit. Unfortunately we were sorely disappointed. We arrived to eat around 7pm on a Tuesday, which is still 4 hours before they close, so you'd expect fresh the food to still be fresh. However, the buffet food was overcooked and dried out from sitting under the lamps for far too long (my guess is many hours), the selection was not hot enough and it honestly seemed like yesterdays leftovers had been warmed up and recycled. There was little to no table service so when we were finished, we went up to the front desk to pay. We had both decided since it was a self-serve buffet and the table service was non-existent, that a tip was not in order. The front desk manager saw that we had not added a tip when we paid and was not at all impressed - his stern words were as follows, "Were you not happy with your food and service? Do you know it is customary to leave a tip?". To which we replied, "the buffet is self-serve, the food was only mediocre, and there was no service - therefore there is no need for a tip.". As we turned and walked out the door he was shouting something but we ignored him. Suffice to say, we will never be returning to New Dynasty since the food has gone downhill, they expect to be tipped even if they're providing no personal service (I don't consider occasional buffet restocking a personal service), plus the mouthy manager was the icing on the cake. There are far, far better places to spend your money in this city. You've...
