I’ve been here once before and recall being underwhelmed by the dish but thought I’d give it another go because I see it posted often on social media so figured it must be popular for a reason. Arrived around 1pm on a Monday and waited by the “please wait to be seated” sign. There was one group of three ahead of me. Not that this is the restaurants fault, but one of the group of three kept looking back over her shoulder at me and glaring. Very uncomfortable as I wasn’t standing close to them, or doing anything but waiting. Near 15 minutes went by before an employee came and asked me if I was on the list. During this time I noticed several staff walking by and didn’t even acknowledge those of us waiting in the growing line, with perhaps a quick smile or a “someone will be right with you”. I wasn’t on the list, so they added me and said it’d be about a 15 minute wait. I said no problem as I’d already been waiting about that long anyway, so I was committed. During my additional wait, a couple tables left but weren’t cleared promptly despite the line and apparently not busy staff - one even twirled the receipt stack aimlessly, seemingly bored. I was led to my table where two menus awaited - one for drinks and one for food. I selected a latte off the menu and was told they don’t have any of those drinks right now because they have new menus that haven’t been printed yet. There was no mention of this when I was sat down. Why give a menu if the options aren’t available? I stuck with water. Sitting in the dining area, it is LOUD. The combination of music and conversations with the acoustics of that space was uncomfortable. I ordered the market burger with fries which is $26 but I had been told it was very good. Food arrived promptly but the burger was somehow not even hot, and it was misaligned and incredibly saucy/soggy. The paper it was wrapped in became fully saturated and was quite messy to eat. Fries were served with what I believe is mayonnaise and when my server finally came back to check in, I had finished the burger and asked for a side of ketchup for the fries. They brought what was surely marinara sauce. It was very chunky. While I was eating my fries, they leaned over me and pinched 🤏🏻 my soggy burger paper off my plate which I thought was quite bizarre. Once they picked up the paper, they held it up and scrutinized it and asked how the burger was. I mentioned it was very soggy and they said they’d advise the kitchen. I’m imagining now how unusual that was. They would’ve had to walk back to the kitchen with my saucy paper dripping and flapping between their pinched fingers. The server didn’t come back for another 20 mins while I sat at the table, clearly finished as I had stacked my plates and cutlery neatly on top of my remaining plated bed of fries. They finally returned and grabbed my plate, didn’t ask whether I needed anything else including the bill. Disappeared. Tables started to empty and it was apparent that their lunch rush crowd was thinning out. Server still hadn’t returned. Another while of waiting they come to fill my water silently, and I asked if I should pay at the counter or would they bring the bill over. I had been ready to leave for some time so I joined them at the counter to pay and left. Overall, kind of an odd experience. Lacking in customer service. Food was not worth it,...
Read moreBeing served Americano after 12 minutes of waiting with only one other table being looked after is a crime. Especially with three staff members working. Worst excuse regular customer could possibly hear i.e. 'Sorry you just got caught behind an order of cocktails'. Worth mentioning coctails were prepared for the owner, his wife and their friends. Maybe my standards are to high but that was simply unacceptable. Too bad my long standing positive opinion about this place radically changed over most recent visit.
[Comment below added after owner's response] Originally gave 3 stars but reduced it to 1 after receiving response from the owner that made things even worse by stating lies e.g. *cocktails have been on the menu for at least a week as per the IG post and, *floor person was not training coffee barista on how to make cocktails but rather trying to please you and your table of four. Next time around it would be great to focus on addressimg issue that is being brought up rather then blending all other unrelated things together to redirect attention from the lack of professionalism that was being pointed out.
[Comment to the addotional untruthful response by the owner]
It seems like you still think I did something wrong rather than admiting that service provided on that night was unacceptable.
Let me mention a couple more lies you have thrown in by adding new comment. These do not make you look credible at all *I was never offered or given a coffee on my birthday. I was asked if i want some pastry which i politely refused. *I was never upset regarding 'no outside food policy' maybe a bit surprised knowing how few non-gluten options are being offered
You should have mentioned that people, who apparently complained about my 'rude behavior', were couple that were friends with one of the servers who were also served within few minutes of being seated. There was staff available for them right away. Weird.
I will let you believe all your staff did that night was exemplary - to the level of standards that are potentially only acceptable for you.
Maybe your cafe/market which aspiring is to be a luxury food establishment shoud only serve friends and family rather than regulars living in the...
Read moreI am usually not posting reviews, except for the times that I am really happy with a service and I would want others to know about it and actually appreciate that service. But unfortunately this one is the opposite! This was our third time here and most probably the last time. Unfortunately our server had a very unprofessional behavior which we could not understand why! Not even a little smile on his face and very reluctant to come to our table and talk to us. We were there with our 1 year old and when we asked for a high chair, he said that they don't have any. At the end, while paying the bill we asked what's the reason that they don't have high chairs and he said that he's not aware of any policy that they should have and he said that he's only working there hourly (with the least amount of care that he could give). Sure, there might not be a policy with regards to high chairs in a restaurant, but it definitely makes it more relaxing and easier for the parents with little kids. I told him if it's a family place, it's nice to have highs chair and if it's not they should mention that in their google page. So to explain more he added that they don't have high chairs since they're trying to keep the place "FANCIER"!!! What's the definition of fancy here?!? We were a family and our 1 year old needed a place to comfortably sit!! So that she would not be sitting on the table or on our lap and trying to reach out to every single thing on the table (specially things like knives and forks). When I asked to talk to a manager, he said that he's a manager too and he'll carry the message (again very carelessly!!) Such a disappointing experience for an afternoon chill! Will not come back and we do NOT recommend this place to families with their sweet...
