My expectations from this place were soon laid to waste , from the reviews I've heard about this place , mildly disappointed is an understatement.
Though we were the first to order today , the guy at the grill still felt it necessary to place a stack of chicken in the steam tray before grilling it. Very little grill time so meat still felt soggy from steam tray.
The service was exceptional, staff friendly and smiley the entire time. The atmosphere like most shawarma places.
This place even though there is plenty of great reviews and a lot of hype fell completely short of expectations, The size of the wrap not even filling , the large and medium size were indistinguishable from each other , and even though they claim to be fresh food there is a steam tray right beside the grill, the flavor was ok , the sauces were nothing to write home about , but; the biggest disappointment of all was the fact that the chicken went from rotisserie to steam tray , to grill. Lose the steam tray please , let people try what you're actually trying to represent instead of cutting corners on the prep . Quite expensive for the size and freshness.
I can't stress enough , you are not the best until the steam tray gets chucked where it belongs , in the trash can .... Cook the food fresh . For that reason I'll never be back to pita grill Lose the steam tray plus 2 Keep the steam...
Read morePita grill is simply the best Donair/Kebab shop in the city, and has been for years. Even now that we live about a 15-minute drive away, this is the only place we will eat for this style of food. Nothing around us compares nor does any other Donair shop in town.
They have moved a couple of times in the same mall in Riverbend here as they have grown and the current location is fully modern and clean. I almost always have the beef Donair but today I had the chicken souvlaki and wow! Where has this been my whole life? I can't believe all these years and I've never had it until now. The chicken is so juicy, the rice is super delicious, the salad is great and the garlic sauce with the potatoes is divine. Is divine. It also comes with a pita bread and a generous portion of taziki. My spouse had to beef donor and platter and she absolutely loved it. That's what she has all the time sometimes switching for chicken. We both came home with enough food to feed us supper tonight as well.
If you are tired of going to your local place that charges you too much money for a few pieces of meat, that is almost always dry, it's worth the drive to Riverbend to visit the nicest people and the best...
Read moreNote, these three stars are not directed at the workers, but rather the management/owners, if it was for the employees I would put five stars and more. I have been going to Pita Grill in Riverbed for over three years, I enjoy the food there and the workers have always been friendly, kind and hardworking. Although, the problem is with how I am assuming the owner understaffs, for example on busy nights like Friday there should be more than three employees. I felt genuinely heartbroken for how hard the workers were working tonight to accommodate not only every customer (and there was a long line), BUT also Skipthedishes. Despite their efforts, this is evidently, very unprofessional on the owners part, seeing as they have the means to hire more employees, especially for busy nights like this, but choose not to. All in all, despite the food being delicious, those FEW employees that do work there is the main reason I am a regular, regardless of the condition they're in, they still always wear a smile and I appreciate them. I wish the tips also went to them, since they really are the ones...
