Second Cup Café — Restaurant in Calgary

I am pretty easy to please overall, I would say, but this was not a great experience from start to finish. The first barista trying to take my order seemed like he didn’t understand me so he got someone else to take my order, which is fine, but she seemed unsure of what they served, like she was very new, so she had to get a third barista who could finally take my order. That third one was not super friendly. She seemed almost angry. Whatever, that doesn’t ruin my day or experience still. But then the food was not good. Like if you want a cheap sandwich so bad you will settle for craft singles and slopped on condiments, this is the place for you! But that’s not me. And I know coffee chains aren’t known for their quality coffee but still, I got a latte that was really just espresso in scalded milk. There was no “foam” at all. Just nothing pleasing about it really. Satisfied a caffeine fix is all. And THEN while I was sitting there to eat my food, there was some kerfuffle happening in the kitchen area, people were dashing around, and then the manager came out to the front to rip the baristas a new one… I mean, I know a manager has to take care of things and correct things, that’s fine, but you don’t have to berate people while you do it, and especially not in public. The whole place had a sort of disorganized chaotic vibe I was not...

This location has been my go to coffee location whenever I am in the Signal Hill area. I usually love to sit down and enjoy my coffee in this location as the atmosphere is warm, clean and welcoming. The drive through is quick and easy if you're looking for something fast, but if you have a super complicated order, they will sometimes get it wrong. Customer service is always quick and friendly. They make you feel welcomed and don't mind if you take your time deciding what you'd like. I usually enjoy the cold brew and the iced coffees. Sometimes I find that there's less choice for flavors if you want sugar free options, but overall there's a nice variety of coffees, teas, and other beverages for you to choose from, depending on what you're into. I always love their pastry case, I find that the pastries are generally more fresh and they rotate through a variety of them depending on the time of year. There's less option if you're gluten free or low calorie though, but there's still a few things to choose from. Would recommend...

After today's experience, I feel compelled to rate this location. I am a university student and was in need of a big coffee order for a presentation at school for the class, a very important guest speaker, and the Dean. Mo was very kind and was able to accommodate my order. Not only did he place the coffee for 40 people in a big urn instead of having it in individual totes, he also insisted on giving us a discount to work with our budget that was given by the school once he found out what it was for.

Plenty of cafes either charged too much or were not able to do this order even though there were several hours between placing the order and pickup. I have always been a big fan of second cup coffee, and I'm happy to say that the customer service in this location had been phenomenal. If you need any big coffee orders like this, I greatly recommend you get it here!
