Swiss Chalet — Restaurant in Calgary

signed into my son's account to leave this review because I was shocked by the terrible service, cold food and dirty interior that is clearly falling apart. There were 8 of us so we were sat at the back of the restaurant in order to accomodate us all. One of the elderly women in our group was sitting against the wall and kept getting dripped on by the swelling ceiling that clearly had a lot of water damage and had not been fixed in a LONG time. It was bursting at the seams, literally. When it was pointed out to our server, she offered no suggestions or another table to sit at. Instead she went into some long winded story about how it had been fixed years ago but clearly they didn't do a good job.

Our server was inexperienced and rude. She stood at one end of the table and yelled at us to get our order. She put a stack of dirty piled up plates in front of one of the men in the group so that she could pile up more plates right in front of him, food dropping in his lap and all over the table in front of him. When it came time for us to pay our seperate bills, she would dissapear to chat with her firends in gthe back. I finally got up and went up to her and said, please finish with us so we can leave! This process alone took over half and hour for 4 bills to be paid! I was stunned by the whole experience, all for cold mediocre food. You better step up your game, teach your servers how to be courteous and learn the basics on how to care for human beings! I suggest you fix the roof other wise you'll be visited by the Alberta...

Decided to take my parents here and was really disappointed, our waitresses name wasn't even given to us so I can't post who it was, it took 45 minutes to get our food however I am suspicious that everything was pre made. My father ordered chicken Parmesan and they waited 30 minutes after we ordered to tell us that wasn't available. She then brought us another menu (taken directly from another family) she then didn't return to check his order until the rest of us had nearly finished eating. I asked for my salad without onions and the waitress told me that the salads were premade and I had to have onions. The chicken was well cooked but pretty tasteless as it was served to me without skin. When I ordered a lemonade the waitress told me they didn't have free refills which was considerate but she then proceeded to list all of the other soft drinks and looked at me expectantly while she waited for me to change my mind. Family next to us took almost 20 minutes to receive a box for their food. Three tables sat after us received food before us and wait staff seemed to spend the majority of their time standing around the kitchen. Salad tasted dirty, waitress forgot my mother's soup all together, also she didn't bring a spoon for father's coffee. Took 20 minutes to get our bill....

Update: 2-13-24: Decided to go in person to see if anything has improved since my Uber experience. The restaurant has a few customers but otherwise dead. I waited over 40 minutes, seated to be served and received no service. I told a waiter and said I’m leaving because I received no service. All he said was, “sorry I didn’t know”, and didn’t say anything else. After 5 seconds, I told him terrible customer service and left. These guys have no customer service. Just shut this place down like Montanas if you have this kind of staff and service.

One last thing - I’m not filling out any surveys on an experience that went south. Not once but twice. You guys are too focused on Ontario and Quebec to care about the rest of the country. Quantity over quality nowadays with Swiss Chalet.

Go to the Swiss 130 SE store to get a much better experience. They can cook a chicken and not give you soggy fries. Much better value and they are...
