Our family is doing a doughnut tasting activity. We’ve hit 5 doughnut spots so far. This one was the worst.
The kids said it was disgusting, they didn’t have more than a single bite of their doughnuts. The youngest said he felt sick after (although I think it was just a texture response).
To be fair, I think my kids prefer dipped over filled doughnuts, so while I usually put in their review as they see it (they said 0 stars!), for this place I added a star to reflect my own tasting of the fillings.
Kids thought the doughnut itself was more like a hot dog roll than a dough nut in flavour and texture. It wasn’t fluffy enough or light enough apparently. I found the consistency and texture of the doughnut itself to be fine. I disagree with my kids there.
The kids found the filling either too strong in flavour or too mild and therefore the texture became an issue. I tend to agree. The strawberry filling was mousse-like and was the best of the flavours we tried. I would recommend trying that one. We tried: Oreo, chocolate, strawberry, and sour cream glaze. The non strawberry flavours were … odd - too strong or too weak . The filling varied from being like flavoured butter and greasy-ish to being like a heavy mousse (cream cheese based). Strawberry was edible but the others weren’t enjoyable.
We all agreed that the sour cream glazed was just plain gross. The kids said they get better from school cafeterias. They’re not wrong. It was greasy and dry all at the same time!! I get that the bakery is going for something different: want it to be crisp outside and then soft inside, but it wasn’t. It was crunchy, then dry, not soft. The extra grease on the crunch just put it over the edge of grossness!
We bought 8 doughnuts. 4 went in the compost with just single bites taken out, 1 was eaten by my husband, and 3 were delivered to a friend who is a chef to see if maybe we just aren’t “refined enough” for this type of doughnut. I’ll update with the chef review if it differs from ours.
Service was great and somewhat warned us about the sour creamed glaze as being designed to be different from standard NA versions….we tried more than one bite before tossing it based on this.
I’d save my money and go to Tim’s before going here…
So far, Magic doughnuts is # 1, Sweet Rice is #2, modern Jelly is #3, Tim horton’s is #4, and this Greedy...
Read moreI've been frequenting this doughnut shop for a while now and have enjoyed their doughnuts. I'm a big fan of desserts, so I've visited various cafes and dessert shops in search of the best treats. Among them, this place seems to be the best doughnut shop. I want to introduce the delicious doughnuts and coffee I've enjoyed here through this review.
🍓Strawberry Doughnut: This doughnut has a unique appearance. I used to think a doughnut must have cream inside, but this one is sliced halfway through and filled with a scoop of cream. The shape was beautiful, and the taste was excellent. The strawberry flavor was subtle, and the cream didn't feel heavy.
🫐Blueberry Doughnut: Similarly, this one also had blueberries in the cream, but it wasn't overly rich. I expected the blueberries to be tart, but it was sweet, almost like jam. I liked that it didn't feel like I was eating something too heavy with the blueberries inside.
☕️Coconut Coffee: The subtle aroma of coconut and the sweet yet robust flavor make this coffee enjoyable to drink without getting tired of it. It paired perfectly with the doughnuts and didn't make them feel too heavy.
🍵Matcha Latte: I loved the foam on top of this latte. Of course, the latte itself was delicious, but the white foam added an extra layer of flavor. Even if you're not a fan of matcha, you might enjoy this latte because of its sweetness.
❤️Ambiance: The restaurant has great natural lighting! Plus, the cute yellow big doll inside add a lively and adorable touch to the place.
The only downside is that they often sell out quickly because the doughnuts are so delicious. If you're craving these doughnuts, it's best to visit early.
Overall, I highly recommend this doughnut shop for anyone looking for...

Located on Macleod trail, basically across the street from the mall. Greedy Donuts is a new fun little donut shop in Calgary and specializes in deliciously flavored cream filled donuts.
As soon as we pulled up to Greedy Donuts, I immediately thought their store front was fun and cute. And then as soon as we parked, we looked side to side and were found people throughout the parking lot eating their newly purchased donuts. Definitely a good sign.
Upon entering Greedy Donuts, I was excited to see their giant blow up mascot, which makes for a great social media photo opt. The establishment has tables to the left for people to sit and enjoy their donuts. This dining area gave me a bit of a old school diner vibe - think lots of open space and light with just the bare minimum furniture but also clean with lots of seating. We were greeted and helped immediately as soon as we arrived at the counter in the back and down a few stairs (different level from seating area).
The donuts all looked amazing and clearly looked like they had been over filled. Donuts range between $3.75 and almost $5, which to me is pretty standard for "gourmet" or "speciality" donuts. We got a box, which fits half a dozen, of assorted flavours and OMG they were amazing. The donuts definitely had a lot of filling and the were really flavourful. The cream is light but because there is so much, it can feel a little bit heavy depending on the flavour (i.e. peanut butter vs strawberry cream).
I'm so glad that we made the special trip to check this place out. Donuts are a must try and I doubt they...
