Price is high(even for “locals”), food is ok, but service is suck! Should be attention to cutlery hygiene, and the implied discrimination behaviour should be concerned as well. The details are as follows.
The old waitress was ignorant, I reckon civilised people should talk politely. I didn’t hear any kind of words from her mouth. There are four table that moment. No concern for our feelings or the quality of the meal throughout the dinning time. We were already being judged by her sight while we walked in the door, my friend told me afterwards. What a poor old woman with hundred percent evil.
We were told wait 2 minutes millions times while we ask for the bill to leave. Shockingly, after waiting for half an hour, we were finally told that we could only pay in cash. The excuse was the swipe machine won’t work, but she even didn’t try it for us. The other Asian-table-guest was treated in the same way. They paid the bill by cash and left disappointed. We didn’t bring enough cash and also trust her, had to withdraw cash at ATM. During waiting, the other two White-table-guest was allow to pay by credit card. It’s really brazenly!
Incredible experience like this never happened to me. I don't believe it's a coincidence at all. After she said goodbye to the two tables, I immediately asked for payment by card. I didn't reveal her evil deeds on the spot. The old lady waitress doesn’t reserve one penny tips at all. And this kind of discrimination should be condemned and boycotted. Please tear off your mask of...
Read moreThis is simply the best Italian food I've had in Calgary, and I've had my share.
The staff was friendly and attentive, and each dish was presented with the type of care you'd usually only get from your own family. We felt like we were being welcomed into their home.
We started with Bruschetta and it was served on two large, light and crunchy planks of toasted bread. The bread overflowed with the heavenly tomato mixture, which was delicious yet not so oily or garlicky that it would assault us for the rest of the meal. It also packed a little bit of heat, which was both unexpected and wonderful.
The Linguine allo Scoglio with tomato sauce was the best I've ever had, anywhere, EVER. All elements of the dish, from the pasta to the seafood, were masterfully cooked and seasoned. The dish was ample enough to share, though I couldn't bring myself to do it.
The Tortellini Romanoff was also too good to be true. The firm-yet-yielding pasta and creaminess of the rosé sauce was perfectly balanced with the smokey bacon and mushrooms, making us savour each bite as if it were our last.
At the end of the meal, we were treated to a shot of homemade limoncello, which was a bold, delicious exclamation point on an experience that I'll be left craving until the next time we visit Il Centro.
Treat yourself and your taste buds, and visit them soon... and...
Read moreIl Centro, not a bad place to go for a classic Italian Diner experience. My girlfriend and I were the first to be seated as the doors opened at 5pm, we were greeted by a lovely sever and sat in a small but cozy restaurant. After all was said and done with food ordered, it was good, but not amazing. Started with the Calamari Fritti, was good the sauce was nice and was a standard dish, for 22.50 id say 6.5/10. Next we had the Fettuccine Alfredo, the sauce had absolutely no salt or garlic so it was unfortunately a bland cheese sauce, I had also added the chicken for $8 but it wasn’t special at all, not seasoned and just tasted of charcoal off a barbecue, for 22.50 plus 8, 4/10. Tortellini Romanoff, didn’t eat this one too much but the bites I did take I didn’t have anything negative to say, for 22.50, 7/10. Lastly we finished with the Margherita pizza, wasn’t oily at all, came fresh and hot out the oven, a standard classic pizza, we had the small for $21, 9/10. Overall with some tips for the waiter I had paid $121 for my girlfriend and I to enjoy our meal, If cost isn’t a problem for you, be my guest you’ll love this place, personally the experience wasn’t negative, but I will most likely not be...
