Silver City Restaurant 悦来 — Restaurant in Calgary

For two years that I have been in Calgary, I had to travel to the Northeast to get any decent Chinese food. Even then, the quality of food never met my expectations and service was always lacking. As my husband would attest, I am super picky, especially with Chinese food. I was getting tired of driving 20 minutes just to a get a decent bowl of noodles. When Silver City opened, I thought it would be another Chinese take out serving the same old western dishes. But this place is far beyond your typical take out place. It is the ONLY restaurant that does western and authentic Chinese dishes well. Silver City checks all boxes. The place is super clean and bright. The staff goes above and beyond to satisfy their customers. They use fresh, quality ingredients. Their dishes are cooked the way it is supposed to be. The fact that there are so many Chinese customers tells you this place is totally authentic!!! I am so ecstatic that FINALLY, I found the best Chinese restaurant in Calgary. I ordered a rather large order from here for a family gathering of 10 people. My complete bill total was $233.22 plus i gave the delivery guy 10% There was 15 items ordered for this event. 4 items came with human hair fried in it....yuck.....plus plastic pieces from packaging.....the hair was gross that we actually had to throw out the 4 items. I called the restaurant and left a message to let them know. Along with my big food order...they advertise free delivery online...plus on their flyer..but they still charged me $4.00 in delivery fees...I tried to call again but very disappointed that i received no call backs nor did anyone reach out to me. This place was 3 min from my house. She assured me there was free delivery and even tho it was only $4 its the principle considering i tipped them $23 for delivering it. So needless to say....unfortunately the hair in 20% of the food that had to be thrown out did it for me. And no calls or acknowledgement is probably why I won't reorder from here. I've been coming to this restaurant for years but the new ownership has completely elevated the experience to a five star level. The biggest standout for me was the pineapple sweet and sour pork. It was absolutely perfect.. the sauce struck a beautiful balance of sweet and tangy without being overpowering and the pork itself was cooked to perfection. It was crispy on the outside and incredibly tender on the inside, with a generous amount of meat in every piece. Beyond the sweet and sour pork every dish we ordered was a winner like the peking duck. The quality of the ingredients is decent. The portion sizes are noticeably bigger than before making it an excellent value. The service was also friendly and attentive. If you're looking for fantastic Chinese food with generous portions and incredible flavor you shouldbtry this place under its new management. They are doing everything right for canton cuisine and I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu! Definitely a hidden gem...
