Extremely rude service constantly. My spouse and have gone to Sunnyside for over 3 years. Not anymore however. Recently their prices have gone up without reason in comparison to other organic stores in Calgary. You will find everything you need and more at Community Natural foods or Planet Organic.
My wife and I have been blatantly disrespected on multiple occasions by their entitled cashiers. Absolutely disgusting behavior to good and honest customers who are polite to them.
Keep an eye on out when they scan your items as literally we have caught them more than 30-50 times charging us full price when an item is 10% 15% or sometimes 50% off.
And if you really want to be treated like dirt go and by something from Sidewalk citizen which shares the store as Sunnyside Market.
Dear management, do your cashiers and muffin/pizza boxers not understand that THEY are there to SERVE the CUSTOMER. They are on the lowest end of the pay scale. Please get this concept through your employees heads as they are costing you more money with their attitude then you probably realize. Dear servers (servers is used loosley here) either fake a smile here and there or seriously upgrade your education and skills.
Never shall we ever again support such low grade service and disrespectful envy. A robot can and will hopefully one day do all of your jobs.
I look forward using my education to design...
Read moreIt’s with deepest sadness that I am leaving this bad review here. As a former chef employee and a long time customer service is very sad to see this business going down. Every Tuesday I have requested to set aside one loaf of bread. I have always made sure to contact the market if I can’t make it there for whatever reason. There are days where I have called several times to communicate that I couldn’t come. When after several calls not able to speak with anyone, the only option given to me was to leave a voice message too to make sure that they can still sell the bread set aside for me so it doesn’t go to waste. Today for the second times, I was told that I was not allowed to reserve a bread under my name because I have failed to come to pick up the brace. Very unfair to be blamed of something I don’t do and never done before… especially knowing what a waste it is for a small local business… because remember I have worked here for 4+ years before moving on to my new career. Lack of service doesn’t/ shouldn’t blame me when I have always tried to communicate with you that I wasn’t able to pick up the bread. Maybe it would be good to have customer service answering the phone and/or listening to voice messages, rather than wrongly blaming customers of not doing their diligences. Very sad...

We recently purchased Pioneer Maple Pepper Ham from Sunnyside Natural Market. To our shock, the product had an expiration date indicating it was nearly ONE year past due.
When my wife consumed a piece of the ham for breakfast, she immediately noticed a foul odor and taste, which resulted in vomiting and a full day of severe stomach discomfort. After seeking medical attention, we returned to the store to report the issue.
While the staff acknowledged multiple other expired packages on the shelves and removed them thereafter, no meaningful resolution was offered. Instead, responsibility was deflected to the vendor, and we were told to follow up with vendor directly.
This experience underscores a critical issue: food safety and accountability in a grocery store. While occasional oversights can happen, how a store responds in such situations reveals its commitment to customer safety, trust, and responsibility.
"This is what separates an ordinary grocery store from a good one."
Over the years, we’ve occasionally shopped at Sunnyside Natural Market. Mistakes happen — but what truly matters is how they are addressed.
This experience was, a deep...
