I had such a great experience at Thaii Express in the Calgary Airport (U.S. station). For an airport restaurant, it completely blew me away. The food quality, the speed of service, and the overall flavor left me more than satisfied before catching my flight. I wasnât expecting much when I stopped by, but this spot easily competes with any Thai restaurant outside the airport.
I ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp and toffee, and it was nothing short of incredible. The dish was extremely spicyâexactly the kind of heat I loveâyet it was balanced with rich flavors and a touch of sweetness from the toffee. The shrimp was fresh, plump, and perfectly cooked, while the noodles carried that perfect chewy texture. Every bite was a mix of spice, savoriness, and a hint of sweetness that kept me hooked until the very end.
What stood out most was how fresh and vibrant the dish felt, even though itâs served in such a fast-paced setting. So often, airport food feels rushed or bland, but this Pad Thai tasted like it was prepared with care. The portion size was generous, and the balance of flavorsâspice, sweet, tangy, and savoryâwas spot on. Honestly, I would order this again even if I wasnât traveling.
The service was another highlight. The staff were friendly and incredibly fast. Despite the busy atmosphere of the airport, they managed to take orders, prepare dishes, and serve customers efficiently without compromising quality. I had my meal in my hands within minutes, which is exactly what you need when youâre trying to catch a flight.
The convenience of this location also makes it worth mentioning. Being right in the U.S. station, itâs the perfect spot to grab a quick but flavorful meal before boarding. Instead of settling for something dull, I got a dish packed with bold flavors that left me satisfied and energized for my journey ahead.
Overall, Thaii Express at Calgary Airport is a hidden gem for travelers. Spicy, delicious Pad Thai, quick service, and friendly staffâitâs the kind of spot that makes traveling a little more enjoyable. Iâll definitely make this a regular stop whenever Iâm flying through...
Read moreThai Express is my usual goto for fast food. I ordered one medium heat, Vegan Pad Thai, confirming no onions if any color. The cashier confirmed back, no onion but green in top, and those she had removed, plus no egg. She said tofu is deep fried when I asked for it to be crispy (every other location, regardless of what city, will do this when I asked). I was okay as long as not cooked within and become soggy. She assured me it was crispy and two big pieces are laid on top. I've never see that, but she said that's the way they do it at that location. No probplem. Not so. I opened it to find no green onions, no egg, no tofu and more white onions than noodles it seemed. When I took it back and she saw me, when I told her there were so many onions i tight it was not even Pad Thai, she android at me and did, "there ate no onions but green on top in Pad Thai". We both already knew that. When, what assisted was a more senior cook looked, then they all did, everyone turned to the one who must have prepared it, and told him, this is Vegan Pad Thai, and Pad Thai had no onions. Again, I look at the newly prepared one, and no tofu on top. When I enquired while so standing there checking, again the lady, now said, it's cut within. A third one being made was not an option for me at this point. I needed to catch my flight soon and get finished eating. I guess that cook had the last laugh at me though. Instead of medium it was clearly as hot as he could make it. I wish I had waited in the long lines at A&W. I'd have been long since finished and headed for home. So...
Read moreCalgary airport location, in a line consisting of exactly two people - me and a lady in front of me. The lady orders and gets her claim ticket, the man behind the counter immediately looks at me and says âweâre closedâ and turns away.
The lady says to me âwho closes a restaurant at dinner time, I hate this place.â Nobody behind me, so not like they needed to make a judgement call on when to stop serving people.
I looked at the time on my phone - it was literally 5:01 pm. Perhaps it makes sense to the man behind the counter if closing time is 5 pm, but clearly this business has little priority on customer service. Add to that the information I found on this particular location states it is open until 6 pm - clearly not.
Oh well, based on the horrendous reviews I now see on this place I probably saved myself...
