Very disappointing experience at this location. I have had positive experiences at their other locations, but not here. I ordered a glass of wine and charcuterie board to munch on while I waited for my flight. Server was lovely, but took a little long to check in after bringing me my first drink. The charcuterie board was, quite honestly, laughable. Some unimpressive pickled cucumber, carrots and peppers. Two slices of cheese (I think Manchego) were ok. The spicy Calabrese salami was ok, but the Genoa salami… it was inedible. I love my salami and, folks, and this was not fresh salami. When the server came to check in, I told her everything else was good (I was being generous, but what did I expect from an airport spot) but that the one type of salami was not edible. I asked if the could substitute with some other cheese or something instead because I could not eat it (it had the flavour of salami after it has been sliced and left out for a few days- IYKYK). She proceeded to tell the kitchen and the manager… when she came back she said the chef assured her it tasted fine and that I could pay an extra 3$ for more cheese. Not the right move to correct a quality issue. Extremely poor customer service. So I quietly asked for the bill and left. Funny enough I was going to order another 30$ glass of red. I just decided to go next door to Chili’s instead and order a pint of beer. There was no way they were getting another penny out of me after that poor form. Needless to say, next time you’re thinking of grabbing a drink and a bite at a more “upscale” place in Gate D, don’t. Just go to Chili’s… the ladies there were lovely and at least you know what...

I had a layover in YYC on my back to Edmonton. I was pleased to be seated at the bar to watch the Oilers game (game 6 v LA Stanley Cup Playoffs)
He was attentive, explained their draught line up to me as well as offering food menus and made sure I was comfortable.
Let me back up - before this, the gentleman that greeted me at The Host Stand happily sat me at the bar and even gave me a tutorial on how the bar stools worked and I was able to change height etc at the push of a button.
I had a beer during the second period. My team was doing well. I realized that I was probably going to be able to watch the 3rd period too before the boarding of my flight.
3rd period got stressful. Real stressful, but in the end the Oilers scored late in the 3rd to take the win.
I paid my tab before the win. Following the win, I decided to order a shot before boarding. The gentleman offered to buy it for me, which was very kind; but I insisted on paying.
I didn’t get his name. I was sitting at seat 7 at the bar. Listening to him work, he was great with all guests he interacts with.
Kudos to you all. I can’t wait for my next layover.
Frequent Flyer and Oilers Fan! You made me feel very welcome, even though I was wearing the other Alberta City’s coulours.
Keep up the great...
Read moreI was in Calgary for only one night and really wanted to try some steak here, so I googled ‘restaurants at the airport’ then decided to come here. (the located near Gate D for domestic flights)
During my stay I can’t help but notice I was the only person of colour besides the server who greeted me.
When I first stood behind the ‘wait here to be seated sign’, I was the first one in line but a white male server went straight to another white women to get her seated, when she was still looking at the menu. I guess that could be just in my head, but just want to point at out.
I ordered drink and my main at the same time, and after I started to eat, seats next to me were slowing filled by again, caucasian people. It was at that time I noticed every table was introduced to the soup of the day, except for me.
Again, that I don’t know if it’s because I was eating alone, but I’m not going to find excuses and just say things I observed. Whatever reason for that, I wish they could do better.
The food part, I ordered the AAA ribeye and it was delicious. A little too salty to my tasting, but it was good. Also ordered two cocktails and those were...
