Review: The Burger Priest - A Greasy Letdown

I recently gave The Burger Priest a try, hoping for a delicious and satisfying burger and fries experience. Unfortunately, my visit left me feeling incredibly disappointed and frustrated on both occasions.

First and foremost, the excessive greasiness of both the burger and fries was a major letdown. While some may appreciate a little bit of grease for flavor, the overwhelming amount of oil made the overall dining experience unpleasant. It left me feeling heavy and my stomach uneasy, which detracted from the enjoyment of the meal.

Another aspect that left a sour taste in my mouth was the restaurant's inability to accommodate simple requests. Despite requesting extra toppings and salt on both visits, my orders arrived without any modifications. This lack of attention to customer preferences was disappointing and made me feel that the staff didn't truly care about satisfying their patrons' desires.

Moreover, the overall quality of the ingredients used left much to be desired. The burger patty itself lacked flavor and seemed overcooked, resulting in a dry and unappetizing texture. The accompanying toppings appeared lackluster and failed to enhance the overall taste experience. It was clear that attention to quality and flavor was not a priority.

In light of my experiences, I regrettably cannot recommend The Burger Priest. The excessive greasiness, refusal to accommodate requests, mediocre. With so many other dining options available, I would encourage burger enthusiasts to explore alternatives that prioritize taste, customization, and customer satisfaction.

Update 2 - Nov 20 Edited whole review for clarity and latest visit. Overall all staff were very polite both times and the burgers were excellent. Fries are also very good. This burger is the closest I've ever had to feeling like a really good homemade burger. Fully cooked, but still juicy. Its not all fat either as some reviewers have suggested. Its a combination of a moisture from the burger and light fat. Btw, I don't order any sauce with my burger as it should not be needed to enjoy it. This is not a dried out premade hunk of meat. Fries are also good quality; not too floppy and not hard rocks either. The sit down section is simple but clean. Great quality food for a burger place and I will telling my co-workers and family to check it out. Only thing I would recommend is to really ensure you get clarity with your order. Check the receipt to make sure they have everything listed that you wanted when you pay.

Update 1 - Nov 16 Had some challenges after my initial review when they reached out to me and suddenly communication stopped after I responded. Left me somewhat disappointed until we reconnected and I finally had a chance to get back in to their location.

Original Review First time visit. Got the OG burger and fries. Food seemed pretty good but I ordered the OG cheeseburger with everything but onions. I got a basic burger with cheese lettuce and tomato only. No bacon, mushrooms. Not impressed as I was the ONLY order being worked on and it was not busy. No one in front of or behind me in line. Order was very clear and the cashier repeated it back to me but somehow failed to enter in the information. This was a takeout, hence my review here rather that speak directly...

I’m really disappointed. I spent 55 plus tip on my family to have what we thought was going to be a 55 burger experience. We should have went to A&W. The order: Single burger with only tomatoes (the kid). A mushroom burger with poutine. A double bacon cheese with extra bacon combo (with milkshake instead of pop). The food: AWFUL! The burgers were super dry and flavourless. The bacon was all fat, and I didn’t see any extra which I paid for, just 2 pieces of fat. The buns were old and dry. The mushroom burger was impossible to eat. The processed cheese was disgusting and oozed out the sides when my wife took a bite. The burger basically fell apart in her hands. She literally couldn’t eat it and we had to discard it. The poutine was so drenched in gravy we actually had scoop some out in order to eat. The fries that came with my convo were delicious. I wish I could have just ate a mountain of fries. The shake was ok. Kind of small, but it was tasty and refreshing. The staff were super welcoming and helpful, we have never been to this place so they gave us the rundown. My tics weren’t a problem which was really nice. Sometimes new places are harder to navigate because staff feel like I’m a problem, not here at all. The dining room needed a cleaning. Maybe we came right after the Sunday rush, but we had to clean our own table. The quality of food was so bad, I wouldn’t recommend it for the cost. What you spend 55 on here you can have for 30ish at other fast food places, that offer better quality. Maybe this was a one off, but being our first time there it was so bad that I doubt...

Ordered bacon double cheeseburger and poutine for take out... Now I dont mind a LITTLE bit of pink, but when one patty is STILL COLD AND RARE I have a tough time enjoying my meal. I know some people like it cooked that way, but I was not given a choice. The meat was surprisingly bland except for the thick layer of salt. I LOVE salt, and this was too much salt for me. The bacon was soggy, not crispy. The bottom bun fell apart from all the grease. I LOST FAITH IN MY BURGER so I moved on to the poutine to hopefully RESURRECT THIS MEAL! The fries were still crispy and tasty, The cheese was firm and not overly melted. The beef gravy or BROWN HOLY WATER was just far too sweet, almost like watered down warmed up bbq sauce. Yuck. The staff was extremely polite and helpful. The kitchen was very clean and organized. My order took only 6 or 7 minutes to prepare, but did not come fully cooked.... For this meal I feel like I was promised christianity, but was given scientology. Maybe I'll try the chicken next time so I can finally meet the lord! LOL It would be a MIRACULOUS occasion If I ever go back after such a sinful first experience, but who knows, maybe the owner will reach out and make a charitable donation to my belly :)

Ooooooh my. We came down to try Calgary's new burger joint since it was getting some hype. I have to be honest I didn't have the highest expectations (standard burger chain), but I was WRONG. We were greeted at the door by a super friendly gentleman (nice welcoming start). Made our way to the counter and drooled over some of the very neat burger options. Staff were very kind and attentive even though they were busy (great job EVERYONE) it was appreciated and didn't go unnoticed. Now for the food - we chose The Vatican (pictured) and the California Classic with fries to share. The burgers themselves taste PERFECT and beefy. I personally find burgers out to be either bland or have every seasoning in the pantry in them - these were smashed delicious Canadian beef patties with salt letting the beef shine through. We both loved our food choices and can't wait to come back and try the High Preist and Preist burgers... then maybe I'll make my way into the chicken. We chose to dine in and had plenty of room even with the tables popping - well laid out dinning space for size. TLDR - burgers great, staff fantastic, get you some!
