To the owner: When I was at your restaurant, there were 2 people ahead of me. One person was already starting to get upset about having to wait for their meal. They were eventually served and went on their way. The next person seemed to be waiting a while but wasn’t too upset. They received their order and went on their way.
There was one order ahead of me and the customer ordered their food then I ordered. There was then 3 orders behind me, one of them was a skip the dishes order. The worker was already running behind and was a bit frazzled. I was getting impatient at the twenty minute mark. The people who ordered after me were given their food before me - first the one order then a skip the dishes order. When I confronted the worker about it she told me it was because they only had one meal in their orders. I said that shouldn’t matter because we were here first and our orders should be filled by which was placed first. I was then given my order - I assume because I complained - ahead of the people who ordered before me. I received my order 40 minutes after I ordered.
Why are the skip the dishes orders or orders with one meal prioritized over orders with multiple meals? Is this normal practice? I’m sitting in the restaurant waiting for 40 minutes to get my meals. I could go to a sit down restaurant and have a drink and a meal in less time. This is completely unacceptable. It doesn’t take that long to make these meals.
I feel bad because I took my frustration out on the worker, but it’s 100% the owners fault for this terrible experience. If you can’t schedule 2 people to work, you need to shut down due to lack of staff.
To future customers: if you read this, be prepared to wait far too long for your orders if there is one person working there. And you will likely not be prioritized if you are sitting in the restaurant waiting...
Read moreI've been wanting to try this place since I heard so much from social media. This branch just opened in Creekside so I guess they're (staff) still practicing.
The choices isn't much which is a good thing so it's not very overwhelming. We ordered spring rolls for appetizer, The flames for entree (coconut rice topped with beef and veggies cooked in oyster sauce), roti (I'm not sure what it is exactly but it's a dip fried pastry) for dessert, and thai iced tea for drink.
The spring rolls reminded me of the korean "Kimali" (noodles wrapped in seaweed and dip fried). Though, this one is noddles wrapped in spring roll wrapper. I liked it because of what it reminded me and I like how it tasted too. I wasn't very keen on The Flames dish. There was nothing special about the beef and veggies- it's like something you can make at home. The rice was more than the beef and veggie so we ended up with rice without viand at the end. The roti was okay, sweet and nice. My favorite was the iced tea, it was lovely and refreshing.
I like the ambiance, since it's new, it's very clean. Though their service can be improved, the food took longer than I expected for just a stir fry dish. But as I said it's a new branch. Maybe it'll get better. The food packaging is really nice which they're known for and Tuk Tuk's trademark.
We'll come back here to try other mains. It's a good small...
Read moreWe ordered the green curry and the mango sticky rice on Uber eats. The packaging was beautiful, but…
Green curry: The green curry was so so incredibly salty, almost inedible. I am not sure if what we got was just a bad batch or if it is always this salty… but you could barely taste anything in the curry except salt. The veggies and chicken in the curry too tasted like pure salt, like when you accidentally put too much salt in your own cooking. The coconut rice was mediocre, you could barely taste coconut flavour in it. We ended up eating the rice plain with just a smidge of curry.
Sweet sticky rice: The sticky rice was hard as a rock and burnt in the middle, possibly because it had been reheated in the microwave from frozen and microwaved too long. The portion was also incredibly small. However, for such a low price, I’m not expecting too much, and if you ignore how hard it was the taste is...
