I was a loyal customer for years. I brought friends, had a birthday celebration there, spread the word about this place to so many people by word of mouth, made this place part of my family's life, and supported the values they stood for. I always expressed how much I liked the food and simply made small requests—hot, crispy fries, well-toasted bread, dressing on the side, etc. And I made those preferences clear before every single order to avoid confusion or inconvenience.
I always communicated politely and respectfully. Many times, I even told them that if it was too much trouble to remake something, they didn’t have to—I still liked the food and appreciated the effort.
Rather than addressing any concerns directly, they allowed resentment to quietly build. Then one day, without warning and within earshot of other customers, the owner told me they could no longer serve me—because, in their words, “every time you come, it’s always something,” whether it was a wilted salad, fries not hot or crispy enough, or other small concerns. It was shocking and humiliating to the point that I couldn't even finish my meal. I truly thought I had a good rapport with the staff and had no idea that’s how the owner was feeling.
The owner also said they feel like no matter what, they just can’t satisfy me. I wish they had shared that concern earlier. I never meant to cause difficulty. I truly enjoyed the food, I would simply enjoy it much more with those little adjustments. I tried to reason with them and apologized profusely, but it didn’t matter.
The issue wasn’t that they felt the remakes were becoming too much—that’s understandable. The problem is they let things fester instead of having an open and honest conversation. They should’ve said something earlier rather than quietly deciding that I was “too much.” It felt secretive and unfair. That’s not transparency.
What’s also disappointing is that most businesses only tell customers not to come back if they’ve been very disrespectful or abusive. That wasn’t the case here at all. I was never rude. I simply spoke up about things I genuinely cared about because I wanted to continue coming back and enjoy the experience. Everytime they made a correction, I expressed my gratitude and apologized for the inconvenience profusely, paid the tab and moved on.
A friend of mine even once pointed out that the pasta wasn’t extra tender as I had asked when we were upstairs at the Attic, and they encouraged me to speak up about it. I was willing let it go because I did not want to inconvenience them again. Eventually I said something. But that moment reminded me it wasn’t just me noticing these things, and I wasn't being unreasonable. I just valued a good meal and wanted to enjoy it fully.
I continued coming despite these minor hiccups because I believed in what they stood for. I always came from a place of care, not criticism. My hairdresser once said the pickiest customers are the most loyal—they speak up because they want to keep coming back. That was me.
As a vegan for years, it's very sad and unfortunate because I love supporting vegan businesses. This place wasn’t just a restaurant with good food to me. But a place that closely aligned with my values and almost felt like home away from home - a place of comfort. So to be told that I'm a customer that just can't be satisfied and will no longer be served truly felt like a slap in the face.
I won't give a horrible review because inspite of everything, I still think the food is excellent, and...

Hi, new vegan here, not new-new, but like 1.5 years newish; and I think it's safe to say I have some thoughts given my experiences here with the complete menu and a good number of new and veteran staff.
I think my first comment would be that the staff here gets top marks. They're friendly, they are as attentive as they can be given how busy it can get, and they definitely seem to have a solid work ethic. They get high fives all around, and that goes for the few kitchen staff I've seen going at it in the back as well.
Next, let's talk atmosphere. The spacing is comfortable, the lighting is quaint in a charming way, the music is varied and never too loud depending on the number of people being served, the decor is homey with a splash of local artwork adding to the vibe, the copper bar comfortably seats 6 but could easily squeeze up to 8 or 9, and the patio is a total mood when available. The unisex washrooms pass the decency test in my opinion and I hope they always keep the handsoap they have (it smells so good and I promise I don't have a problem). Oh, and as a cyclist, they have a bike rack out front by their green wall which is much appreciated and can hold a solid half dozen riders. Bonus points for being wheelchair accessible. If you can, for duos, try getting a seat with the cute hanging hammock seats if available. In short, cozy indoors with a communal outdoor feel.
Now for the food. Bruh, it slaps. There's for sure something for everyone and it's definitely a spot I could say changes perceptions on vegan cuisine for doubters. It's genuinely good stuff.
My favourite dishes per menu category that I could comfortably recommend are: the BANG BANG CAULIFLOWER TACO (with the CHIMICHURRI BEAF as my close second), the JALAPENO CHEEZE DIP APPETIZER (but shout out to the CHICKPEA TOSTADAS), the burritos are good but I have to give props to the PESTO CHIKIN QUESADILLA, and the HARVEST PICKLED SALAD is so dope with no additions needed. The desserts are a toss up because it's the two and I'd say it's a preference thing based on what you had, but they're both worth trying so save room if you can and have the time. Special mention to Lisa's TORTILLA SOUP, it's solid comfort food regardless of the weather or your mood and I hope it becomes a mainstay on the menu. I don't think anything here is under a 7.5 out of 10 depending on your taste.
Drink choices are great too, but I feel like I can't comment on those only because it can be such a personal choice, but they have some stars that stand out, for sure.
*Full disclaimer: This isn't a favor or paid for, or anything like that, I purchased everything and had great food and service virtually every time. I say that to the point where I'm just going to thank the staff for keeping me fed, welcomed, and appreciative of not giving me any buyer's remorse. Pat yourselves on the back, you've all found yourselves a regular patron.
To everyone at Vegan Street Taco Bar, keep on keeping it 100 and don't change unless it's for the better.
With all the stars and a part of my heart, this place is definitely...
Read moreI fell in love with this place🧡 I visited here with my husband last weekend and their food was amazing, interior is soo pretty, even the washroom and staff were friendly and nice. This will be my new favourite place where I want to take my friends and family and visit again and again.
This is a vegan food restaurant so everything is plant based, even the menus sounds like it’s not. But don’t be afraid if you are not vegan, you will still love it.
For the drink, I ordered zero proof virgin pina colada, classic- it was good, no over powering sugary drink, it was more of gentle pineapple and coconut flavour. I loved it 10/10
We got Kalamari - made with king oysters, to start and omg, it was soooo good. Amazing chewy and crispy texture and flavour, try with or without the dipping sauce. I loved it 10/10
Ordered daily special or season special that were half priced, sorry forgot exact name of the menu but it was bbq chikin strips, it’s not made with chicken, it’s made with chick peas (i think). Bbq sauce had bit different aroma at first so it was unusual to the flavour that I’m used to but it was not bad and at the end, I was licking the sauce from my fork. But the texture though, it wasn’t crispy but soft because of the sauce. It was not bad but I’ll probably skip it next time, 7/10
My husband ordered beyond burger, again, sorry I don’t recall the name of the burger. He is not vegetarian or vegan, he loves meat, and he still really liked this burger. I took a bite and it is better than A&w beyond burger, if you know, you know. Bacon was crispy, beyond burger patty was juicy. 10/10
After all these food, I was already full but I already ordered my main which were 3 tacos; no fish taco, buffalo chickins (chicken peas) and a recommendation by our server, i thought she said something beet but not sure exactly what it was but it was good, it had giant mushroom like thing and it remind me of Vietnamese sub. No over powering sauce, which I prefer and refreshing cilantro and tomato garnish was perfect 8/10. My favourite one was no fish taco (10/10), the no fish stick? Was crispy, sauce was good, bit saucy but not overpowering. I know why everyone orders this menu, it’s good. 10/10 And lastly buffalo chickin was my least favourite, it was way too saucy and the chikin pieces were bit dry and hard 4/10 but keep in mind that I was already full so it might have fluctuate my taste buds.
Overall great experience, I will definitely come...
