Waitress asked why she was not tipped and then had security remove us from the restaurant.
This past spring my fiancĂ© and I, with a friend visited watchmen on a Friday night. The security guard chased me down and grabbed my arm demanding ID was shocked but flattered as I am thirty in a few months. After settling at a booth a waitress quickly took our order we had several drinks and shot specials and a bite to eat. The food was as expected when it comes to pub food. Several times we tried to wave down anyone to get a glass of water with no luck I finally approached to counter where I waited 15minutes to get a glass of water! After receiving our $85 bill my fiancĂ© handed over a 100 and the waitress returned with the change. My fiancĂ© and I waited at the table while our friend used the bathroom. The waitress Michele (I believe her name was) returned to the table tapped my fiancĂ© on the shoulder mid conversation and asked if something was wrong with the service while rapidly blinking her eyes then proceeded to say âIf there wasnât anything wrong with me servicing you then why didnât you tip? What you canât tip %15 on a $85 dollar bill?â
I was beyond shocked and disgusted by this and asked her what the manager would think of her pathetic behavior and if that was normal practice, if she was not being tipped that is a clear reflection that her service is not appreciated. Went on to mention her rolling her eyes during me placing my order, the wait at the counter to ask for water. And then then having the gull to return asking for a tip, laughing I told her there was no way the hell she was getting a cent and I would be contacting management during business hours. Her response was âya? Ya? Ya? Well, weâll see about thatâ and she left. Security returned inside of a minute and told us to âget up and get the hell out!â
I would never recommend this establishment to anyone for anything. This waitress was unbelievable and how she is still employed as a server is baffling. I never contacted management as I misplaced the receipt and was not completely confident on the name of the server/waitress. Her behavior was clearly something she had done before so I am sure they are aware but have done nothing to correct this behavior. 17th ave has a number of options in the general area with dishes of the same caliber. I should have known the experience was not going to be good. For a Friday night at 11:30 there was max 15people in the pub.
Best to find another pub and there are...
Read moreLast night, on christmas night, I had the worst experience ever. It was a real and total theft. Every time I bought a drink at the bar I payed for it right away, then there's this guy who invited me and my sister 2 drinks. When I went to the bar to get a drink for the guy, the female bartender took my card and made THE WHOLE transaction herself (no PIN needed on my card) and gave me back a receipt for 3 drinks saying that nobody payed for the drinks that the guy invited us (My sister and I didn't even go to the bar to get those drinks, it was just this guy). I wonder how could that be possible, cause as I said every time I got a drink I had to pay for it right away. But the worst thing was her attitude, she never told me BEFORE taking my order that there were 2 unpaid drinks and that I should pay for them, even when I didn't order them. She just took my card and charged me 3 times what I had ordered. I will NEVER go there again and would like to advice everybody else: BE AWARE and DO NOT TRUST the female bartender (the guy was SO cool). It sucks because of the money she just decided to get from my card with no previous notice at all, but it sucks much more because I never expect to be treated like that during a...
Read moreI'd come here a few times since I moved to Calgary a year and a half ago. Always appreciated Gord at the bar remembering my usual drink, the selection of sports available to watch, and the food was perfectly good pub grub.
Checked their website recently and saw it was updated, with a new menu. It was Saturday and the daily special was steak frites, so I decided to try it out while watching playoff hockey. (Note: it was UFC Night so most TVs had that on, along with the sound system).
Got there just after the game started and sat myself, waited a few minutes until a server noticed me, asked if I'd been helped yet, then another one came over, gave me a food menu and took my drink order. She brought me my drink, and then disappeared for over half an hour. I saw her hanging out by the bar, and back by the kitchen, but didn't see her working the floor much.
It was almost the end of the period and I'd decided I was going to leave at intermission, when I got her attention and she came over. I ordered the steak frites, medium. She brought it out in a timely manner. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe medium is still pink. This was closer to well done, see photo.
The place wasn't terribly busy when I left,...
