Came here on a Friday night around dinner time and it was very busy. Great atmosphere and lots of tables for seating but since they were busy I would recommend calling in advance and reserving a table.
We ordered the beef kabobs (x2) and 2 other dishes, and it was a group of 4 of us. We each had ordered a dish individually and they brought the 2 beef kabob dishes out first and not the other 2 dishes. So we had to share because it took so long to bring out the other 2 individual's dishes. We waited over 20 mins for the last 2 dishes.
The beef kabobs were extremely undercooked and kabobs are part of my cultural food cuisine so I know for a fact what it should taste and look like and at the very least that it should be cooked and not bright pink inside...kabobs are not rare steak...so it shouldn't be cooked like one... both beef kabob dishes were missing the grilled tomatoes and onions which was stated clearly to be part of the dish in the menu. We asked the server 3 times and when she finally brought it out she only brought it out for the one dish and not the other and we were fully done eating all of our food...like what is the point of that... finally when the last 2 dishes were brought out they came with one side of bread each. The breads were extremely doughy and only the middle was cooked properly...
Price was very reasonable but it's not somewhere I would come back to try again...all 4 of us were very disappointed with the quality of the food and service. If you go to any other restaurant all of the main dishes ordered are brought out together not 30 minutes apart and each dish is served as described...
Read moreHaving tried all the good food of Mississauga, I'm glad to find such a fine resturant when traveling, to the point in a short trip I decided to dine there more than once. If you are looking for the summary, here it is: Food is great portions are the expected from generous yemeny (big portions) Dining and cleanliness is very good. Staff is exceptional. Price is very reasonable.
Some of the details... First thing caught my attention is how successful they are in selecting their staff, Allah are the best that you wish to find in every restaurant but you don't, polite welcoming, helpful, careful to details...I visited twice in 3 days, first one was Alex and she managed to leave a great impression on the phone only when I was asking about time they are open to end up with her booking a table for me and saving me the line up when I arrived on a busy night. Then to find later she is so professional and made out visit real pleasing to me and my family.
Second visit Shahd (Honey) served us and she was as amazing as the first visit. Both deserve 10/10
On both visits we were offered a complementary soup and once a yemeny tea. Which made the experience even better.
I rarely find restaurants that leave a satisfaction impression on me...This place feeds one's satisfaction when you call, when you are received, with every spoon, and every interaction with the stuff...I cannot recommend them enough end above all the quality of service I saw in both times.
I forgot to mention, I was called back from the restaurant when I called once and no one answer...have you got that ever before !?
Congratulations to the owner...
Read moreWhat an interesting experience. Taste of Yemen is almost perfect, with a dash of "slightly odd".
The food was AMAZING. Like I mean AMAZING. Perhaps a little heavy on the rice, but that's ok, as the rice is a delicacy unto itself. The lemon-Mint drink was amazing - A unique flavor unlike anything I'd had before.
But the Odd: It's unclear if it's a fine dining place, a cafeteria, or a sports bar. It's like it's tryign to be all three. With a few tweaks could be fine dining. Music is too loud.
The cutlery is beautiful, but the plates are plastic. Little things like this suggest someone lost the plot on on the way to making the restaurant beautiful. Ends up still being very nice, but you can't shake the feeling the restaurant was born to be more.
The table appeared to not have been cleaned before we were sat at it. There was rice/sauce from a previous diner smeared on salt and paper shakers.
And the menu is overwhelming, with words, and choices. Many dishes to chose from, and each one has an adjective-laden min-essay to describe it. I felt overwhelmed by the menu, and had my GF order for me.
I wonder what Gorden Ramsay would think. I suspect that like us, he'd see that it was off to a great start, but with lots of potential, and in need of some tuning.
We'll certainly be back, and I hope the staff takes my observations to heart, to make this place better, so it can be here for...
