I recently had the pleasure of dining at Habesha Restaurant it was truly a delightful experience. The restaurant had a warm and inviting ambiance, perfect for a cozy dinner. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that every aspect of our dining experience was exceptional.

The menu offered a wide variety of mouthwatering dishes, each prepared with great care and attention to detail. I particularly enjoyed the was bursting with amazing flavors and beautifully presented. The ingredients were fresh, and the portion sizes were generous.

In addition to the phenomenal food, the service was top-notch. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and offered helpful recommendations. They were always available to address any questions or requests we had, making us feel valued as customers.

The restaurant also had a lovely atmosphere, with tasteful decor and comfortable seating. It created a relaxing environment where we could enjoy our meal and engage in conversation without feeling rushed.

Considering the quality of the food, the excellent service, and the overall experience, I found the prices to be reasonable and fair. It was definitely worth every penny.

Overall, my dining experience at H abesha Restaurant was exceptional. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. I can't wait to visit again and try more of their...

Myself and my friends visited here this week and man it’s the worst place we have ever been! I don’t wanna sound rude at all but we were not happy at all with the service and the food that we got. Our server is actually the worst server! First she gave us the wrong order and when we told her about it, oh boy she wasn’t nice at all! Instead of apologizing about it she actually raised her voice to my friend and our second set of order came almost half an hour and never checked in on us. And our bill is expensive as well considering the server didn’t actually gave us the correct food that we ordered. We are NEVER coming back to this place at all. If I could give zero review for this place I would. I go out a couple of times a week on 17th ave and this place is by far the worst place I have ever been. I’m quite surprised about the 4.6 reviews of this place. I’m just not happy and satisfied at all with the service and the food. My friends who are actually from Ethiopia felt embarrassed about this place because we expect that we will have a wonderful time here but it was totally an opposite experience very embarrassing actually and I can’t stress...

Edited to update as I frequently eat here now and get takeout: as an Ethiopian, I can confidently say this place is #1 in Calgary for authentic, amazing tasting, hygenic (only place in Calgary that hasn’t left me with a stomach ache😅), and high quality made Ethiopian food with fresh tasting ingredients. Truly feels like the quality of Ethiopian food you could get back home. They’re kind, and make you feel at home. As a vegetarian, have loved all the things I’ve had here (esp. the vegetarian firifr and shiro tegabino), and so have my friends that tried the meat dishes.

My only suggestion is please hire either an extra cook and/or extra waitress as I rarely see more than 1 waitress there at a time, despite it being busy (and the waitresses seem to already be working fast and non-stop). It takes way too long for food to come out when it’s busy (upwards of 45mins) - so ideal to have extra workers which would attract more diners. But this is a common issue for all Ethiopian restaurants. Otherwise,...

For those of you who missed Kensington’s Marathon Restaurant (shut down in 2021), Habesha YYC is one of the Finest Spots l for you to Savour Ethiopian/Eritrean Gastronomy in a World-Class Setting. The staffs were really courteous, food was prepared in a timely manner, and the aroma of traditional incense manifests such welcoming atmosphere for patrons/guests. Among of my top favourites are the Chacha Tibs, Quanta Firfir, and Beyayentu. All meals are presentable in their flavours & arrangements. Problems included are the limited parking spaces surrounding the block and the Chacha Tibs were too oily for consumption. My visits to Habesha YYC are among the best in experience and taste. I will come again in the future to satisfy my palates. Definitely a must-go for everyone into Calgary’s Food Scene! My top Favourite. በጣም አመግናለሁ!

The food was great, here. The service was pleasant and the food was brought out pretty fast. We loved everything we ate, and it pretty much left us completely full. We definitely over-ate, but the food was so good, we couldn't help ourselves. The pricing was very reasonable. We noticed they had a bunch of sunflower decorations, too - not sure if it was for an event or just their normal decor, but I love sunflowers, so it did the trick for me 🙂 Parking is a bit tight in this area, depending on when you arrive. This restaurant does not have a parking lot. There is street parking, some of which is paid and some isn't. If you head down one of the residential roads (off the main road) you'll find free parking.

I gave 5 stars because I don't like to harm great local businesses, however there were 2 "issues" that could be improved. 1) We say outside and the server checked in on us to refill our waters, we were so thirsty! and 2) we asked the server to walk us through the difficult-to-read menu (we aren't Ethiopian) and her English wasn't good enough so we just opted for the platter that she pointed to. The platter was INCREDIBLE. See pic. So much to eat for $60, enough for at least 3 people. So many unique flavours! Can't wait to eat there again, maybe next time I will have researched the menu for myself!
