For the past year this has been our go to place for AYCE Sushi. My husband and I have tried almost every single AYCE sushi place in Calgary over the last two years and have found that this location has the best service and food quality. There has only been one dish that we weren't a fan off (Satay chicken) It was edible but not something we'd personally get again. Kai is our favourite server ever. Every time we arrive he is always smiling and waving. Kai has taken notes on our frequently requested things and ensures that they are ready for us before we even have to ask - my husband loves to have a bottle of water rather then constantly flagging a server down for a refill, so everytime we are seated Kai will usually bring us a bottle of water along with our glasses, our sauces, lots of wasabi and will remove the soy sauce from our table. The only downfall to this location is the limited free parking options, due to this one thing we would frequently visit another Fusion Sushi location but found that their service and food quality did not compare to this location. This is our favourite restaurant/location and we try to go at least twice a month and every single time is it always a pleasant experience. We love that now we're acquaintances with most of the servers that they'll have a small chat or joke around with us as they're passing by our table. All the servers are amazing, super welcoming and friendly (especially Kai) The food is always fresh and hot - we have had some our dishes missing when they're VERY busy but it's not a frequent issue and not really a big deal to us as we'll just re-order Parking is definitely one of the downfalls, there is a paid parking lot next to them, and free parking across the street. 10/10 I will always recommend this restaurant and location 😊

The service here was sub par. 5pm on a Saturday, restaurant maybe 40% full. Dishes taking 30+minutes to reach the table (Rock n Roll sushi took 1 hr ordered at 5:51 it came at 6:54 after asking someone. It looked nothing like the menu, missing spicy mayo picture attached). Dishes reached the table one at a time, we'll order more while waiting and things from the new order may come before original order items ever make it out. Delivery orders seemed to be flying out of the kitchen, so it was frustrating to see food coming out that wasn't ours, over and over. Servers aren't checking on food quality with patrons, when dishes are dropped off they're pretty much thrown on the table, one had sauce spill everywhere because he tossed it down (picture attached). Water was never refilled in the 90 mins we've been here so far, we went up a got a water jug ourselves finally. Dishware is dirty, greasy and clouded. Saki dishes are sticky. Food quality itself was alright, most menu items looked nothing like their pictures though, so what you ordered and what came out were different things. Washrooms were clean, though the Men's washroom was missing a change table which the female washroom did have. Overall a poor experience. I'd hate to see how this place functions if it were actually busy. Edit: as I'm writing this our water was finally refreshed.

Edit: A defensive response isn't really professional. Also, we didn't come in on the weekend? It was a Thursday. Being busy doesn't excuse poor food and unmannered service. We used to come here regularly, and while it had its faults, the restaurant was always pretty good. Not so much anymore. Recently when I came, there was a dead bug on the sashimi plate, and the server did nothing about it when told. In the most recent visit, we were rushed to order by every single server in the restaurant, it felt like a speed eating game. To top it off- take a look at the maki we received. That's some A+ folding lol. They were also all stuck together. The tempura was cold, and there was SO much rice in the nigiri. It was easily 3:1 ratio of rice to fish. We had to remove some. Given that the lunch menu pricing was 22 dollars a person, you're better off going elsewhere.

This was a great meal all in all delivered quickly to the table with a smile.

Pros: the restaurant uses an iPad system to order the food allowing for those new to sushi to both see and read a description of the menu item before ordering it. the restaurant is large and very well layout so that with reservation you could seat a large party of people and at the same time has quant little booths for a great date night out. the menu has all the “standard” things your used to seeing on a sushi menu and some great menu items specific to this franchise (personally I loved the little chips of spice Crab, Tuna or Salmon) that make great appetizer or dinner menu items. for those on a restricted diet there is no limit to the sashimi (rice free sushi) you order. Ie grain free.

Pro/Con: this restaurant is located Down Town and as such brings with it all the thing that come with that.... there are lots of places after if your on a date to get a drink or go for ice cream but the town town side of things means that if you go to Tim’s for a coffee after your sharing the place with downtowns locals and getting buzzed into the washrooms.... parking is hard to find Free but plentiful for only $5.oo in the large and otherwise empty lot directly beside the restaurant.

Con: as friendly and pleasant as the staff were they seem to be used to DELIVERING the food to the table vs knowing or talking about it.... they did it fast and with a smile on there face but gave that air of “I have other tables to deliver to I need to go” if you asked them any thing. we were there in the pre 9:00 o’clock hours and they seemed to be quite quick to clear you from your table after you order desert. They never gave the impression they wanted you gone at any time before desert but as soon as we ordered ice cream it was impossible to get a drink refilled and our bill was at the table before we were finished out ice cream. This could be seen as prompted service but when there were several empty tables and no line we felt rushed out the door.... understandable if your trying to serve a packed restaurant but on that Tuesday night we think it just came from habit.

Would I go again YES Would I take or recommend friends for the first time YES

Would I do any thing differently🤔 I’d bring looneys for parking vs...

I’ve dined at this location a couple times before, but this time the service was disappointing.

When my friend and I arrived, it was during dinner rush and we. were sat right away. When we were looking at our menus, staff brought food to our table four times, to which I told them each time that we haven’t ordered yet. I have been a server before, so I understand that mix ups happen.

Our food was delicious, as always. I always enjoy sushi from Fusion. Our food was served to us in good time, for it being the height of dinner rush.

After our main meal, when the wave of the rush was dying down, we ordered an appetizer plate of spring rolls, and waited for at least twenty to thirty minutes. They were delivered very quickly after I asked about them, to which I am assuming that the server who I originally placed the order with simply forgot to ring them in. As someone who has been a restaurant server before, I understand that forgetting to ring in an order can happen sometimes.

After eating the spring rolls, we were sitting there for a while without anyone checking on us if we were ready for our bills. To which we stood at the host stand until someone gave us our bills to pay.

As someone who has worked as a server in a busy restaurant, I understand that rushes don’t always run smoothly. Understaffing, order mixups, takeout orders on top of table orders, kitchen backups, etc, all happen. However from my observations it seems that there is lack of communication between staff about tables, sections, and what needs to be done. Tonight we had three different servers tending to our table, which oftentimes in rushes, results in miscommunication or mistakes happening. In this case, I would recommend more strict sections in seating, instead of every server being everywhere.

Another thing that I would like to point out is that no one checked on us to ask how our food was, which while I understand that it was busy, that is a small but trivial part of service.

Overall, I will return and give this place another chance, as the food is excellent, and I had good experiences in the past. I also would like to point out that this place is excellent in terms of...

So for the meal we had: 18 Piece Sushi, Chicken Udo Soup, Chicken Wings, Beef Short ribs, and Spring Rolls, my party consisted of myself and another person. We were walkins at around 12:00 PM.

My rating is based on the Service, the food, and basic restaurant sanitation. Based on my experience I won't be returning to that restaurant.

The Service 2/5: We were told to take a seat by the what looked like to be the Busser, however was one of the servers. His attire did not match the other 2 servers. They wore blue dress shirts, dress pants. When we were seated we were not asked what we wanted to drink, but we were later provided water. Most Asian cuisine restaurants will ask if you want a fork or chopsticks. We were only provided with chopsticks upon being served our food.

The Food 2/5 The salad side with the 18 piece Sushi was drowning in salad dressing. The Salad dressing's consistency was off. It looked grainy and chucky. The Sushi Rolls were not formed properly as they were splitting, when they were served. I was informed by my guest that the broth for their Udo Soup was bland.

Hygiene 1/5

Our water glasses were not clean, I noticed pulp in my glass so I took a small sip to see if it was citrus infused flavored water. Upon not getting a hint of flavor in my water and noticed my guests glass did not contain any pulp, I stopped drinking the water and told my guest to do likewise.

I noticed the Busser was also serving food. My issue with that is given how busy it was and the servers were prioritizing the large parties, someone could get sick if they were not consistently washing their hands. And I am pretty sure the person who clears the dishes is also not the same person who serves the food in other restaurants for that exact reason.

I did not have a pleasant...
