Straight up will never come back to this place again. As my friends and I (a group of four) were just about to enjoy a snack before we headed out to enjoy the rest of my friendâs birthday, the waitress came over to our table saying that weâd ordered âtoo little,â that her boss was âpissed,â and he was staring at us as if weâd wronged him. Sheâd told us to âjust remember for next time.â What does that even mean, âremember for next timeâ? As in, remember to order more, and pay more than what you originally wanted to? It certainly seemed like it. This comment was made moments after sheâd just placed the meal in front of my friend. There were only two groups that were in the establishment at the time; it wasnât like we were taking up space that could be used for other customers (ones that they obviously donât have because of the service they offer). Itâs one thing to try and push sales, but to rudely comment, or even argue with the customer about what they order as well as the quantity of what they order is crossing the line. We ended up leaving the place, not paying for our meal (obviously) after the horrendous act they did of kicking two of our friends out when they hadnât even done anything that would harm the establishment. So if youâd like to be told what to eat, by all means, have...
Read moreIn the past few years, the Korean Fried Chicken scene has exploded in Calgary. But, no matter what, we always head back to our favourite: Yum Yum BBQ in Pacific Place.
Price is amazing! For under $14, you get a 3 piece meal (your choice of flavour), crinkle cut fries and a pop.
Portion size is consistent. Nice big juicy pieces of double-fried chicken. Some places offer 5 piece meals but we like these whole pieces more.
Taste is incomparable. I like the spicy chicken (no sauce - dry spice) because itâs got just the right amount of kick. Sometimes itâs spicier (yay) than other times, but itâs always good. Husband usually gets the shallot chicken, which has a nice savoury and sweet sauce and shallots on top. This time he got the signature Yum Yum sauce chicken and still thought it was good. Their chicken isnât as saucy as other places (which we like)!
If you like crinkle cut fries like I do, then these are perfect! They also have twist potatoes (spiral-cut potato on a stick) which is also fun to eat!
We tried the beef bulgogi ttoek-bokki (rice noodles) this time and found it tasty, but still love the chicken more. Lots of people around us for other dishes and chicken, but the 3 piece meal is filling enough!
Weâve tried the other locations, but honestly, this one...

Edit: The chef took the time to speak with us and explain the changes and why they occured. Each location has different owner. Unfortunately, this location they don't offer the cheese seasoning on fries anymore and the reason they don't offer it as a side is because the seasoning is very fine (if I understood correctly) so if they provided it as a side it wouldn't be a lot. The Chicken flavoring has also changed because they make their own now, previously they had imported flavoring (again, if I understood correctly). Our server also came over to explain better and apologized for any miscommunication. Server was very apologetic and we understood this wasn't her fault nor the chef but a decision of ownership.
Original: Yum Yum use to be my go-to recommended place for fried chicken but the Chicken isnt flavoured like it use to be. They also changed the seasoning of their fries and don't offer the cheese seasoning anymore. We saw that it was still on the menu for the potatoe chips, so we asked for a side of cheese seasoning and that we would pay for. Server responded that they don't "do customization" and...
