Dakshin used to be our go-to restaurant because we always enjoyed the taste and service. However, our most recent visit was disappointing on both fronts. We went on a Thursday night and ordered Hyderabadi chicken biryani, Chicken 65 biryani, masala dosa, and idly. Sadly, none of the items felt fresh. The Hyderabadi chicken biryani was dry, and the rice seemed undercooked—I was even hesitant to let my little one eat it. The Chicken 65 biryani was relatively better but still not up to their usual standard. The chutneys served with the dosa and idly were overly salty and lacked flavor. We did share this feedback with the server, but unfortunately, it didn’t seem to matter. The idly was clearly not fresh, and the dosa had a sour taste, which made it unpleasant. We’ve always loved Dakshin, but this visit was a letdown. We hope they return to their earlier standards, as this experience was far from what we’ve come to expect.
