I come in on Sunday at 1:30PM, it's not super busy, nor is it empty. Understaffed maybe? Definitely bad communication between waiters when they hand your table to others.
Anyways, everything started out fine, got seated quickly, ordered quickly and got my drinks (hot chocolate and water). Food came out in a timely manner, and this is where things go downhill. I had ordered an extra side of baked beans, and the cup they give is basically a tasting sample cup that would normally get condiments. It's absolutely minscule. The eggs benedict was ok except for 2 thingw, the 2 eggs they give you are tiny, they're almost quail sized eggs that could fit on a single english muffin. Also, they were slightly overcooked with a layer of cooked egg on the inside, and not a lot of runny yolk. It's not quite medium yet, but it's definitely overcooked for soft. I would attribute that to the eggs being small. The peameal was pretty large, the holllandaise was pretty good. The fries are ok, they're sprinkled with paprika i think, but that flavour doesn't come out at all. Its basically thick chips, and it's ok. They take up more than half the plate. I usually skip the potatoes if i can because i can't eat that much food when there's a main course.
Service after the food though was literally non-existant. I had unfortunately finished my drinks before finishing the first half of my eggs benny. Nobody came to ask me how the food was, nobody came to refill water that was empty, that i constantly jingled, and even left obviously in front and plain view. I basically needed to ration the ice cubes for hydration while eating my meal.
Additionally, i think after the 2 tables next to me were checked out, the waitress handed my table off to some one else (or ditched shift entirely). The new waitress attended a new table, and then only ehen it was obvious that i was finished was i checked out. It wasn't even a checkout, they gave me the machine and ran off. I checked myself out.
This was a pretty disappointing experience, especially as a newcomer...
Read moreI’d trade the speed of delivery of the food (which was best practise in restaurant terms) for “an exceptional hot cup of coffee.” SUGGESTIONS: . Your Greeter could ask “do you have a seating preference” this shows immediate interest in the comfort of your guests and they haven’t hit the table yet . Your carafes provided coffee which was not hot which I attribute to the quality and/or age of the carafes. Your restaurant should consider changing out the carafes a a trial for a two week period and providing “that exceptional hot cup of coffee” as burner to table service. Over 75% of your regulars will definitely validate their preference for “table service” over the carafes! . Combine the above techniques with your servers putting a hand written “Thanks” with a 😊 face on the receipt should garner over a 30% increase in tips.
All in all, these suggestions will, in all probability, produce a higher percentage of 5 Google ratings, vis a vie, your “new attitude of gratitude from the Country Girl’s Team/Family.”
I trust that this is helpful and constructive - I’ve consulted to McDonalds and Boston Pizza over my 50 years in my professional sales effectiveness practice with better than average increases in both chains in customer satisfaction.
By the way, we found you on a google search of Cambridge Restaurants having returned this morning from a Mexico vacation and being New Country lovers, and huge supporters of women in business, we jumped at the chance to find our way to your doorstep.
Blessings, we will return in a few...
Read moreSaturday Jan 11 2020 I came into the restaurant with a large hockey team including my son and wife ... the last time we came on a Friday the service was not so great... the food came out at different times and most of us where done as others did not even get their food yet.
BUT to mind that we decided to give it another go as we where in town for a hockey tournament and we just wanted food.. Today the service and food was excellent! our server( short, Brown hair,) was great! She was fast and efficient..I think her name was Robin or something. As a large group all of us families where amazed on how ready and fast the service was. We where all worried that the service would be slow as we were roughly around 32 and awful as it usually is for a large party especially with children but we were most certainly blown away by the great service and food. Our server made sure we were all satisfied and happy with our food! We did not have to ask for one thing! She was on top of it all!!
Food was hot fresh and tasty! As my self has the classic Bendict!
Thank you to the staff and kitchen at country girl and especially Robin (sorry if that is incorrect) We will most certainly be back and most defiantly recommend to all! It is truly is the best breakfast...
