Update update. I've been here more than a few times in the past year and i have to say its only gotten better. Their new menu is also quite interesting. I highly recommend the new loaded rice.
Also, it turns out they do catering too. Recently attended an event catered by Grillados and kudos. The food was fresh and there was no compromise on the quality given the large quantities. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
What an amazing new grill house in the heart of Cambridge! Serving up some fantastic portugese style chicken and beef back ribs, i personally think Grillados is a great addition to the eatery scene in the Cambridge, Kitchener-Waterloo area esp because it's all Halal - i'm looking forward to returning during Ramadan for an after fast feast!
Happened to go on opening day, a tad apprehensive but hopeful because it can be a hit or a miss on the first day of business and i really wanted it to live up to the expectations set in place from visiting the other locations before but honestly my fears were unfounded.
The owners were super welcoming, the servers and waitstaff were a bit nervous but well prepared (day one jitters i'm sure!) and the food they served up was absolutely scrumptious.
As i said, iv been to the other locations so knew what to expect food-wise but so so happy that they compleletly lived up to the expectations.
Went with family so ended up ordering a bunch of things but unfortunately don't have pictures for them all. The Nachos and the Espetada's were two of my favorites that i ordered (repeats from before and they had a two for one deal for opening day) but the Beef Back ribs really stole the show. Soft and juicy and flavorful (yumm! Just writing this is making me want to go back for some).
If you're trying it for the first time, the sauce spice levels cater to range of tastebuds but if you're a spice-lover southasian this is definitely the place to be. Think Nandos but a little more upscale. Oh we also got one of those pita pocket things(dont remeber the name) as an afterthought and ended up taking it home but that was so good! A great lunch order option if you're at work nearby and want something quick and non-messy/healthier.
They had some dessert options too, cakes and a Tiramisu as well which the kids were very enthusiastic about.
The location offers plenty of parking in the area, the entrance and restaurant is very wheelchair friendly and they also have a small seated waiting area. Its openly spaced, family friendly and i did notice a couple large tables with booths toward the back that could potentially be reserved for a dinner party or something. I'm very happy to have a Halal option so close to home and in the area generally.
Shoutout to Nouman (one of the owners we ended up talking to who was very helpful and very welcoming) your restaurant is great and i'm looking forward to...
Read moreBeef ribs were so fatty and almost no meat. Bbq sauce so salty. Cole slaw tasted days old and was runny with no flavour. 🤮 Beef kebab appetizer so salty and chewy. Couldn’t eat it. Place was empty which should have been the sign to turn around and run. Didn’t even get the itemized bill and had to ask for it to discover they tried to deceive us and charge us for the appetizer that we sadly had to send back as it was completely inedible. Manager tried to intimidate us and asked us if we tried it with the sauce and said that’s how they come and they get it from an outside source and so on. He kept trying to insist we keep it on the table. We had to actually be interrupted from our second course to have this debasing conversation. When I asked for the contact information of the owner the manager refused to share. We were soooo looking forward to a halal meal that in the end was HARAM. 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾 The WORST restaurant experience in a very long time. Had to buy tums to offset the nausea and indigestion from this food. Blood pressure through the roof from the waitress trying to fraud us and manager trying to bully us combined with all the SALT in the so-called food. Imagine going out after a long day and needing a good meal in a good place and this is your experience. Shame on the staff there. Was so upset didn’t get their names. N.B. This is in the same plaza as the new restaurant Sauq. Go to ➡️➡️➡️Sauq which is real halal with excellent food and service. Moreover when the management responds (see below) and you write to the email given, NOTHING is done. NO RESPONSE, NOTHING. shame on you. Haram haram haram....
Read moreWhere to start?? well…..first, this is NOT a Portuguese restaurant. I typed in google search “Portuguese restaurant in my area” and the first one that pops up is Grillados. Again, this is NOT a port chop shop. We walked in and we aren’t even being setting. She hands us the menu to pick our food right THERE, than we had the option to pay right there when we just walked in….What, come on…..We ordered our food, sat down and finally got our food. The salad was good( they didn’t have Cesar salad, ran out I guess) and gave us the smallest amount of dressing for my large size salad. Eating salad with a drop of dressing was fantastic.(sarcasm) Honestly the food wasn’t great, but it was ok. I could have made the same dish at home on my bbq. Nothing spectacular. There was not one thing on the menu that was Portuguese. Believe me, we are Portuguese and there was nothing. My wife even asked where is the Portuguese food on the menu? She said “..all of them are.”…..ok???? We like new places to try, and I’m telling you I will not be back here. $3 can of pop to drink. Other “restaurants” charge for that amount and gives you FREE refills!! So, over all. If you like this kind of “restaurant “ than have at it. Me and my wife likes going out to eat a lot and likes to go to a proper restaurant style…..one more thing, I never write reviews on restaurants, but we aren’t happy at all with this place. Sorry we won’t be back. Not worth $50+ for two people. ( this was...
