We went to Kelseys Cambridge tonight and had an awful experience. We were seated right away at 6:45pm, which was great. A waitress came and took our drink orders fairly quickly. Fast forward 35/40 minutes and no one had come to take our dinner order. I waved down the girl who took our drink orders and she said she wasn't our waitress but that she would be along soon. I walked back over to the front desk and asked the host if someone was going to come and take our order soon. She said she would track down our waitress for us. A minute or two later the same waitress who said she wasn't our waitress came over and said she would take our order because our actual waitress was too busy bringing people drinks to take our order. We had two children with us who were very hungry at this point and their patience was wearing thin. We ordered an appetizer and asked that the kids' meals be brought out with our appetizer. A half hour later we still had no food. One of the members of our party went to go find a manager. My son chased after them so I ended up being there as well. The manager went on the defense right away. He said it's not unusual for people to wait an hour for their food. He also said "this is the first I'm hearing of this" as if he would hear of every single thing going wrong in this restaurant the second it happens and it couldn't possibly have just come to his attention now. He walked back over to our table after saying we couldn't leave without paying for our drinks - no problem. Then by the time we got to our table he said he would cover them (we had some iced teas and ginger ale). After being rude to us, he then asked us to stick around so he could give us vouchers to come back. Nice gesture but I have two kids who have already waited over an hour to eat, I don't have time to wait for you to bring us vouchers to come back another time. We certainly won't be returning anyway. Who knows how long it will take to get our...
Read moreNormally I am not one to complain about food. However I definitely felt dumb after the experience I had at this location on Friday night. I have been to Kelsey’s MULTIPLE times and always order the same thing because I have an allergy. It’s safe for me to keep with the usual. On Friday for dinner I ordered the same as usual, a quesadilla with steak (hand carved sirloin). When my food arrived I noticed it had the beef it it, to which I then politely asked my server if this was the sirloin and she responded “yes this is the only beef sirloin we have for quesadillas there is no other button for me to press, this is what it’s made with.” To which I responded that I usually get the same thing everytime and this isn’t the sirloin. She didn’t offer to fix it for me, she only insist I try this beef to see if I like it. I ate about half and when the time came for her to check in she asked how it was she came right over and the first thing she said was “I checked the menu myself and asked about it in the back with the kitchen there is no option to have steak/ hand carved sirloin in the quesadilla” and I stated “I believe this is the beef not the steak am I able to see the menu to make sure I’m not losing my mind”. After lying to me multiple times clearly, I read the menu with stated “for 2.99 I can substitute the meat with the hand carved sirloin”- the one she selected for me was the chili seasoned ground beef. At this point still not offering to fix my meal, she then stated the steak wasn’t an option again and must have been a feature that has now been removed. I was over it at that point and didn’t wanna cause a whole scene, so even though I clearly saw in the menu that steak was an option like I ordered I wasn’t going to argue with the server I was just ready to leave. I can’t remember who served me but I couldn’t believe I was being gaslighted to believe something right infront of my eyes...
Read moreThis place looks super friendly and seems accommodating. I can truly see the appeal, but unfortunately for my bf and I, we had a rather disappointing experience there last night.
It wasn't overly busy upon arrival, but we were placed at a table in the middle of the room (not far from the bar). No problem, that's great. Our waitress was friendly enough, clearly busy. Not her fault, but quite a few people were standing around looking like they didn't know what to do. That's fine! I worked in customer service for years. It totally happens; no worries.
The part that started to really get to me was the non-stop, and I mean NON-STOP, "CORNER!" "CORNER!" "CORNER." "CORNER!!". This was yelled at by every single person coming in and out of the kitchen. Again, nobody's fault and I'm sure there's a story and probably a great reason for that, but nonetheless, it did ruin the vibe and give me a minor migraine.
I wouldn't write a review if it were just the corner situation. It's not really my thing. But the food was absolutely TERRIBLE, especially for the price. I don't mean to critique anyone at all, but it was truly awful, and I'm agitated that I left with a $60 bill for it. My boyfriend didn't have much food for the price, and the chicken was virtually inedible. The guy will eat microwave chicken for days with no complaints but actually didn't want to eat this or the four fries it came with.
My food was okay, kind of random temp. wise, but that happens.
I don't want to criticize anyone there because these are more head-office/manager problems. However, they should still be mentioned because it was very...
