I empathize with service workers that their jobs are often very difficult and stressful, so my friends and I make an effort to be kind and patient. However, that does not excuse the attitude that the waitress with long brown curled hair gave to us about 2 weeks ago.
We had sat down quietly and were patiently waiting for service. We didn’t even call anyone or act agitated in any way when she came over 25 minutes later. It had been so delayed that we had started thinking maybe we were supposed to order at the bar. That was alright though, and we were prepared to greet the waitress when she came but before we could open our mouths she snapped at us, saying something about it being busy and that “patience is key”. Again, we had not said a single thing and were just pleasantly sitting and waiting. Nothing we did warranted that. We were all quite shocked, but started ordering regardless.
I asked if anything from the cocktail menu could be made into a mocktail since it states on their menu online that they had mocktail options. Maybe not the best question, but I had just wanted to make sure I didn’t order something wrong. She sighed and looked at me like I was dumb. She then said “well just use your due diligence. obviously not anything with wine.” I was shocked by her rude and snappy tone. She continued, “well actually, yes wine can be replaced. But just choose something like a margarita. So is a margarita good?” And she had already held her pen to her notepad expectantly, sounding extremely impatient and didn’t even give me any time or options to choose from. Like I said, I empathize that nights can get busy, but we were not stalling or wasting her time. I was taken aback and didn’t want to cause any conflict, so I had just agreed with the margarita and stammered out a “yes, that’s fine!” But I wish I had actually gotten to choose what I wanted.
Next, she was very snappy with my friends orders too. I don’t recall exactly how, so just to not accidentally falsify events I won’t comment on them. However, it was definitely uncomfortable and scathing for all of us and we quietly remarked on how rude she was and reflected on if we had done anything to warrant it, coming up with nothing in the end.
While waiting for our 3 drinks and single food item, we noticed that she had a much better mood talking to other customers causing a ruckus. There were some guys loudly yelling and spilling beer, celebrating someone’s birthday. With them, she giggled and egged them on to drink more. Now there is nothing wrong with having some fun, but we were confused by why she would act so short with us who weren’t disturbing anyone while simultaneously treating louder patrons with a lot more respect. I will not accuse her of any prejudice against us, but you can make your own conclusions. What was most frustrating about this is that she served those guys their orders far earlier than us, despite them ordering later and larger more complex orders than us, who had to wait another 25+ minutes. We know the time because we had ordered Ubers.
Just an awful experience overall. A shame because it really is a nice place and i’m sure there are other nice servers but that girl in particular just mistreated us so much. We would not like...
Read moreFood was amazing and the atmosphere was one the experience! Me and my friend visited from Toronto, and we were out exploring downtown Edmonton when we came across this place, packed up with people in and out ! Everyone had there Oilers Jerseys on, amazing atmosphere saw one of there server , working so hard ! And not only that even at that time ,she was so cheered up and serving and getting the job done ! What a queen! (Don’t know her name but she was in her mid 40’s I guess, apologies if i guessed it wrong, but she won out heart !) We came back next day in evening, ordered pizza , drink and sandwich.the server we had was a very young lady, didn’t even greet (its okay we ignored) , we requested water with straws , she forgot and asked again( we empathised as she was working alone so its okay again) we ordered food and requested her for plates as she only gave us one for two people , she forgot again , couldn’t really wait for her so we started eating. We requested for a dip which too she forgets and we had to request the guy working on other table near bar ( we literally waited 20mins, a one single dip! Crazy !!?) . The guy got us right away , we were eating our food peacefully when she came and said “ you shouldn’t order to both of us otherwise you will charged twice, we replied- “but we were waiting for too long” and then she goes like -“ I’m the only server here, you should have waited, Patience is the key” I mean hello miss? Patience? You wasted our 20mins for a single dip ? We weren’t rude even if you forgot few simple things , we were trying to empathise and you are saying “ PATIENCE IS THE KEY” ? Lol And guess what how many people where there in restaurant at that time …barely 6 people( 2tables lol) and she forgets the orders. God!
The one star in service is only for the first server who served us on busy game night , because that’s how you do it! Amazing service by her! ✨
I’m posting picture of the busy night when we had experience of good customer service and had good time ( 27 may)
And then picture of next day with receipt.(bad customer service day) (28 may)
I hope the management fixes...
Read moreAtmosphere is good; it is a cool pub. We had gone there once before and everything went decently well. It took a while to order but it was packed in there and so it was understandable. We then decided to go there again tonight and thought we would sit on the patio because it was open and it was a nice night. We waited 10-15 minutes out there with no service or acknowledgement. A server served food to the table 4 feet away from us and saw us but never came back nor did we get acknowledged. We thought we would go inside to see if our luck was better and sat there for another 15 minutes without anyone even acknowledging us. There were maybe 10 tables inside and 3 outside. We walked out and the server said sorry that she was the only server. Firstly, a single server at a bar on a Saturday night at 9pm downtown Edmonton is crazy, especially if you have the patio open and considering most places won’t be busy until an hour later; we also saw another server doing side duties maybe 15 feet away. Furthermore, an acknowledgement by a staff member would have been appreciated and we would have been happy to wait. Instead we sat without anyone even looking at us, even after moving to a table inside right in front of the bar. The server doing side duties had helped tables outside and inside but also failed again to acknowledge us in anyway. I had heard good things about Kelly’s and enjoyed the last visit, but after this experience I will...
