We went for New Year’s Eve, and while the bar itself is gorgeous, the service was sub par to say the least. We arrived at our reservation time, only to be told that there were no tables ready and that we would have to wait. We waited about 20 minutes for a table to open. When we sat down, our server offered us a round of champagne/sparkling wine, which we thought was on the house as we were waiting for our table. We proceeded to order a few more drinks each, and again a glass champagne was offered for the midnight toast, which we accepted. Our server seemed like every question we had was a hassle, and a couple of our drink orders were forgotten. When we received the bill, it was almost double what I was expecting to pay. We had seven drinks and an order of fries, and our bill was almost $300. All of the cocktails were $20 or less, according to the menu, so the total was not making sense. We did not receive an actual bill from our server, she just gave us a card machine with the total already entered, so we weren’t entirely sure what we were paying for. I had to hang back and try to get her attention so that we could get a copy of our bill to see why the total was so high. We were charged $110 for three tiny glasses of champagne, which I never would have ordered if I knew the price. All the servers seemed very preoccupied with drinking their own drinks and celebrating the night, so I didn’t really feel like brining up the issue with anyone and putting a damper on the night. I understand it’s the customers responsibility to ask what the price of something is, but the whole experience felt a bit predatory and just gave me the ick. Definitely worth checking out, but just be aware you might not get the kind of service you would expect.

UPDATE: upon reviewing our bill more closely this morning, there is a bunch of extra items on it that we didn’t order. So I truly have no idea if we paid for someone else’s table or if we were just charged for extra items because the server was disorganized. We were finally able to get a refund for the items we didn't order, although it took weeks and a lot of back and forth to obtain. I will add a star because we did get...

Aesthetically, the place is amazing. 10/10 In terms of on house treatment ? 1 star. And that star is for the bartender he gave great service. I was disappointed by treatment my Friends and I received from the rest of the staff. Our reservation was made around 6 and they said the estimated time for arrival would be 10. So naturally we went elsewhere, got ready etc. and waited for a text. Then an hour later we got a text saying you have 10 minutes to get to your reservation or it’s getting canceled. 10 minutes obviously wasn’t enough time for us to make it there. We arrived in 20 minutes. When we arrived, our table was given away and they tried to tell us yeah too bad. Obviously, we weren’t having it, so we waited a little bit of extra time, and when space freed up at the bar, we sat at the bar and then we waited some more and got a table. . The menu for food and cocktails were mid. Then as the night was winding down, and the restaurant is slowly emptying, One of the girls comes up to say just so you know, your two hours is almost up. First of all, she was wrong. We had been sitting down for like one hour at that point but for her to come and say that to us when half the restaurant was empty and groups of people who had been there for hours before us were never bothered or told to leave as they were getting rowdy and disruptive, was crazy. That obviously left a bad taste in her mouth. Then the last drink that was served to us was literally tossed across the table. No, hi here’s your drink no smile. All we saw was a glass fly onto the table and slide halfway down the bench. We were so confused.. The last negative would have to be the orange pulp in my sisters espresso martini. I’m glad I went and crossed it off my list, but I won’t...

Deep disappointment following my recent experience at Mimi Bar. My visit on Friday January 7th was marred by the poor service provided by the hostess who was on shyft on January 7th 2025 (Friday).

From the moment I arrived, I was met with rudeness and lack of attention from you. It was clear that you were not interested in providing a welcoming atmosphere for guests. Your dismissive attitude and lack of professionalism truly soured my experience.

When you waiting 20 min at entrance as an idiot and couple random guys just coming and just get a table with no problem or spot at the bar without reservation and you listening again fairytale about "oh wait another 8 min" it's really to much.

As a customer, I expect to be treated with respect and courtesy, especially when patronizing a service-based business. Your behavior fell far short of this standard, and I am truly disappointed by the level of service I received.

It's my 2nd time at this bar, but I just don't want to come back because of hostess (2nd time the same situation) - I would like to visit other restaurants or bars in Downtown Area instead of this poor service...

Another fantastic new spot in town! While Olia (by Daniel Costa) is a wonderful addition, there’s really no need to reserve or wait when Mimi is right next door. This adjacent gem has a more laid-back vibe, cozier atmosphere, and smaller bites—crafted with the same expert touch from the shared kitchen. Tonight, we snacked while Rear Window by Hitchcock played on the big screen. And on certain nights, you might even catch a DJ spinning some cool tunes. Service at The Wood tends to be a bit slower, but our server tonight, Kate, was absolutely on point! Thank you, Kate. She mentioned it was only her second shift, but regardless of where she worked before, her attentiveness has already made this place better. Saturdays definitely have a different vibe—especially on an Oilers game night—compared to the Friday happy hour crowd. But wow, this place is buzzing!

We were excited to try Mimi. The decor and vibes are so fun, you don’t feel like you’re in Edmonton anymore. Unfortunately the service was not great which kills the vibe a bit. We barely saw our waitress, and when we did she was not friendly or helpful. After 15+ minutes of waiting, she brought the wrong drink (whatever, things happen) so she took it back, and I then waited another 15+ minutes for the right drink. Also, the wrong drink was left on my bill as well. The food was quick to come out and I really enjoyed everything we tried. I’d go back but I hope they up their service game as it seems to be a common concern here.

Firstly, the arancini and cherry ice cream is a must. Don’t pass on this and in fact get two orders each of the arancini. I’ve been here twice now and didn’t have reservations both times, which means waiting up to 40 mins to get a seat. Hot tip: find another couple and reserve a table. It’s worth it. They are incredibly busy especially on DJ guest nights and or the curated jazz nights by a talented local jazz artist, Biboye Onanuga. Fabulous. Given their busyness the service can slow and it’s good to keep in mind. This place is a gem in Edmonton. Wish it had a dance floor.
