Adana kebap was actually not a Adana kebap but kofte. The meat in Pasha kebap was very juicy, tender and delicious. We loved it!!! Kiymali pide was delicious and the size of the portion was quite large enough for two people. We love the sucuk and humus combined appetizer however it should be served with some pita bread. While we were waiting for the pita bread that we paid extra $6, sucuk got cold and we couldn't enjoy it much. There should be an option for a smaller size of pita as well since it was quite much for the appetizer portion and for two people. We love that the actual food names were in Turkish in the menu and the food was served exactly as it is described in the menu. We also love that the main courses are being served with bulgur instead rice. Much healthier and yummy !!! Our waitress was kind enough to change our table facing the washroom sign and too small for the meal that was ordered even though the owner/chef refused to give us another table at the beginning. There was no enough room on our first table to have a comfortable meal. Basically they do not accept walk in customer, if you are going to book a table in this restaurant, it is better to mention them which table you would like to have.If you are an expert and Adana kebap lover, order something else to be on safe side and not being dissapointed. I recommend you to deal with the stuff not with the owner/chef; you would definitely regret and even got a feeling that you might be discriminated either you are Turkish or not white. I can recommend this restaurant only for white people with no kids as this restaurant do not accept children younger than...
Read moreThe best restaurant in Edmonton, hands down. And it ain't really close either. I know this is a bold statement, flying in the face of food writers in this city, who I assume don't visit any restaurant that doesn't have rustic wooden benches for seating or 'farm to table,' but Sofra is easily the best place to eat in this whole city. The space itself is a brilliant ambience, warm colours and nazars in every table. But the food? The food takes the cake here. The hummus and pita is the best appetizer in the city, easily. The hummus is neither too sweet or too bitter, a perfect taste. Meanwhile, the pita bread has to be some secret recipe, smoked with something special, because it's a totally unique taste.
For mains, you can't really go wrong, most dishes come with a yummy pilaf and salad, and classics like the lamb, duck, and kebab are are delicious and savory, but I'm here to sing the praises of the Izgara Kofte, otherwise known as the Turkish Meatballs. Because, wow. Probably one of the best dishes I've had on this earth as a living breathing human, I can't even really describe it, you just have to try it for yourself.
Sofra is the best place to eat in this city easily, I've gone maybe 10-12 times and each visit was better than the last. If you want the best food Alberta's capital has to offer, here is...
Read moreThis place was my favourite Turkish place to go to in the past. The food was always cooked to perfection, however this time it was not like The previous times. The owner is no longer there and the food is not cooked as it was in the past. I ordered the dip trio with fresh bread, it was good however hummus was on the saltier side this time. The shrimp and mushroom Appetizer was quite expensive for 4 shrimps and in my opinion not worth it. Now, for the main entree the lamb chops I had asked for medium well done. The server at first said he can’t do them well done there not meant to be that well done, anyways I said as long as there cooked. When we received it the lamb chops were uncooked and Pink. The server lied and said I had asked for this, rather then taking things in an professional Manner he removed them off the plates very angry. Anyways he did remake it and it was actually done the way I had asked. Anyways the service was not at all as it was in the past and food quality has definitely suffered as well. The bulghar was over cooked and a weirde texture. I in the past never minded paying for the prices they charge but not if I don’t get the quality and service defiantly not worth it. The previous owner maintained the consistency and sofras previous owners legendary Turkish food...
