Restaurant Boustan — Restaurant in Châteauguay

I love that we have a Boustan. I crave it weekly. But price stops me from going. Its great if you have company to order from here, but if u get the wrong person preparing your takeout it could be a less enjoyable experience for the money it costs. There is a high turnover of employees I noticed, never get the same person serving me, and the portions change depending who serves you. I understand. Sometimes its great, sometimes you don’t get alot of meat for $20. The beef Shawarma option sometimes has too much salt that you cannot eat it. It is sometimes too dry when it has too much salt. Less salt more juicy. I never returned it and had to throw it twice but its happened many times now over 2 years, as it was impossible to eat, like a handful of salt accidentally fell into my plate, just impossible to eat. I keep trying it, because I like it but I never know if it has too much salt in it until I get home. Any other place I would never order again. No other restaurant has this issue with salt dosing. Less salt in the beef would be better to avoid this problem or fixed dosage per pounds of meat. The dressings are good that you don’t need salt. Smokers usually add more salt when they cook because they can’t taste as well its a fact. It’s always good to have a fixed amount for the recipe for this reason. The chicken is good doesn’t have this issue as I buy one of each everytime. I enjoy the spices in the meat and don’t care about salt.

Everything is usually fresh. The potatoes are great and sweet, coleslaw salads great, rice, dressing and hummus. The garlic sauce on the side has made me ill a few times so I avoid it it might have raw garlic, but it is good if you can eat it. Its the inside of the garlic core that makes ppl have GERDS. Dry garlic is safer. I did get a migraine after eating the beef this time around from the salt, but I hope they are not adding MSG now, because I am completely intolerant. It lasted 3 days. I hope not. It is a bit expensive for takeout. If they offered at least 2 pita breads for the price it would feel more complete. I always have to have extra at home. Or $10-$12 lunch specials same size, instead of $16.99 for limited time. I would go more often in the week if they did this for sure. They offer a catering menu that looks interesting. I might consider it for an upcoming birthday. I still enjoy it so I recommend it. Stick to chicken if you are...

Boustan always has good food , but this location is always disappointing everytime I patronize this location I regret it , will never come here again . Any bowl you get wether it’s the Junior bowl , the regular bowl , the falafel bowl they always want to argue with you for a pita that is suppose to come with the bowl . I’ve been to the lasalle location , Longueuil , downtown I do not even have to ask the pita is automatic. Chateauguay you always have to argue then they always want to charge and it’s always a different price with each person you speak to . 1 guy says it’s 0.75 cents then another it’s 1$ once it was 1.50$ . Then also they never want to give half rice or half potatoes that’s also an argument . The customer service is absolutely ridiculous. The potatoes are never fresh either they always have potatoes sitting in the fryer not submerged and the one that are available to the customers are always dry....

When they opened they gave reasonable portions of meat in their plates for the price and it was perfect however that changed in the following weeks/months. Now the amount of meat they give is just not acceptable. The food is tasty, it's just the quantity you get for the price is a big concern. For that same price at other places you get a whole chicken breast with at least 5 times the amount of potato and same amount of salad, no rice but the rice is not what killing the food cost. So having that quantity/price in mind it's not worth more than 3 stars however...
