I dont know about dinner, but breakfast was horrible. We were a group of 3 and we all had bad meals. The first item on their menu is a house special hash. Lets make one thing clear, its not a hash. Its just a plain 2 eggs, potatoes, and sausage meal. The waitress didnt even ask how to make the eggs. Service was another thing, lets stick with the food. Ok, the basics to breakfast are potatoes and toast, 2 things they cannot do. First the toast, it was cold and hard. It takes about 2 minutes (MAX) to make toast, so there's no excuse for stale toast PERIOD. Now lets discuss the potatoes. Ignore the fact that they are mislabeled as a hash, these potatoes are gross. The basics to serving potatoes... Cook the potatoes. Before we even get into the flavour the first thing you notice about these potatoes is they arent cooked. The first batch of potaotes we received were raw. I mentioned the "undoneness" of the potatoes to the waitress and she brought a new batch to the table. Now its important to note that the waitress did not take my raw potatoes to be re-heated, she left them on the table. I actually have no problem with her doing that because those potatoes were a good 5 minutes away from being edible. So we get the new potatoes and they were better than the first batch (only in cookness), but they were inconsistent. Some were "ok" (barely cooked) and others were still undercooked. This is just 1 thing wrong with these potatoes. I've vaguely referenced the poor taste of these potatoes. Now the texture of these potaoes are way off. Usually for a breakfast potatoe you want a nice sear on them for a little crunch. These potatoes were sweet and grainy. They looked like they were blanched in some kind of maple sugar sauce it also had caramelized onions which made them even sweeter. A sweeter potatoe wouldn't be bad if they had atleast seasonsed or counter balanced the sweetness. Im not against creativity in the kitchen, but a candied potatoe for breakfast is gross. The omlettes weren't very good, tasteless and dry as hell. I wouldn't be surprised if they were using liquid eggs out of carton instead of actual eggs. The service was subpar but not horrendous. Obviously the bulk of our negative experince was with the food, so not the waitress' fault. The only gripe with service was the inaccessibility. We wanted another round of coffee and she never came. When we finally got a hold of her for more coffee, it never came. I guess that worked out in our favour, there was a pretty damn good coffee shop just at the corner...
Read moreHad the horrible experience of going to Casa Mia today for lunch with my two sisters. The place was not busy and we were sat immediately. The water brought us water and we ordered our meals 5 minutes after arriving. One sister ordered the Grilled Vegetable Panini, while my other sister and I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana Sandwich. We waited a ridiculous 45 minutes for the food to come to our table. Not once in that 45 minute wait time did the waiter come to our table with any kind of update on our order or explanation for the delay.
Finally the waiter came out with our food…my one sister’s Grilled Vegetable Panini and for my other sister and I…the Casa Mia Club! WRONG ORDER. We immediately told the waiter that it was not what we had ordered….that we had ordered the Chicken Parmigiana Sandwich. His words exactly…”No you didn’t…were out of Chicken Parmigiana. You ordered the Chicken Club.” This after now 50 minutes in the restaurant!
One, never correct a patron about what they ordered. There is no doubt we know exactly what we ordered and two, don’t become defensive about the error rather than being apologetic. The waiter left to see the manager and, after talking to him for a couple of minutes, the manager came to our table. His first line “it’s my understanding you think you ordered something other than Chicken Club, but we haven’t had Chicken Parmigiana since this morning.” In other words…I believe my waiter over you. It was absolutely unbelievable, and when one of my sisters let him know we weren’t appreciative of the insinuation and that the least he could do was “comp” the two wrong meals, his reply was “Well maybe I will”. We told him to forget it, and after almost an hour, we left! I don’t care if the food is decent at Casa Mia….because of the service an attitude, we will NEVER go back. One if the worst experiences at a restaurant...
Read moreThe only reason I awarded 3 stars for the food was because my husband thought his plate was very good. As for mine, which was a chicken parm ..... the chicken was spoiled and tasted awful. I had to send it back! Not trying to come across as difficult, I agreed to re-use the noodles and just add a couple of meatballs and sauce. The waitress apologized for the chicken and said the chef agreed, the chicken was definitely off. A few minutes later she passed me a bowl containing the original noodles and a few meatballs. By then, I was unable to eat because the chicken had nauseated me. We asked for our bill and when it arrived, I was billed for the full cost of a spaghetti and meatballs meal. Two dollars less than the chicken parm. No removing the rotten chicken dish, no discount for the horrible food ...... nothing! In addition, when booking the reservation online, I requested a seat along the wall near the rear of the restaurant. Reason being, I've sat near the front before and find it quite chilly when the entrance door opens. Upon arrival at 5:15 pm, there was no one at the front to receive guests, we stood and waited for a few minutes, while staff were at the rear of the restaurant. When the hostess did appear, she took us to the first table at the front of the restaurant. I had specifically requested a rear table. After seating us, she offered to move us to a table further in the restaurant, but I declined since we were already seated. There are many other nice restaurants in the city to consider the next time we decide to go out and spend $110. on dinner. You can bet Casa Mia will not be...
