TLDR; If you want some good quality Korean food an excellent service, this is the place to go.
We have had quite a few Korean foods, both home cooked and at restaurants around the world, because we like Korean food and that's what we grew up eating. It says a lot that we came here two days in a row (would have been 3 if we hadn't departed from PEI early on the third day).
Service was amazing and attentive without overbearing or disruptive. Inside as well as the bathroom were clean. Their offering of local beer was great, and when I ordered a bigger size, they even offered a sample to make sure I'd like the beer.
We had their Korean BBQ menus as well as a couple others.
Kimchi pancake: This was another hit. It tasted exactly like how my grandmother used to make it, where it's flavored enough, but not seasoned to blast your taste buds with way too much flavor.
Corn cheese: The flavor was on point. They used A LOT of cheese. We kinda wished there was more corn than cheese, as (this is not something we say lightly as we love cheese) there was almost too much cheese compared to the corn. But it was really tasty.
KBBQ menus: We got bulbaek and samgyupsal (pork belly). This place knows how to cook meat. The bulbaek was marinated enough to give it flavor but not overwhelm you with the sweet and salty flavor that other KBBQ spots often have. Pork belly was cooked and cut to the absolute perfection. You can tell the original pork belly they cooked was thick and juicy ones that were cooked to be crispy on the outside and juicy and moist on the inside and then cut to their rectangular shape to make it really easy to eat. It's also great they give you the ssamjang sauce, because that's actually been hard to see in our experience of having KBBQ during our travels in Canada.
K Fried Chicken: Now, this was a huge surprise. The chicken was cooked well where the breading outside was crispy, and the chicken inside was tender. Even though they're not a chicken restaurant, they actually managed to get the breading to stay on the chicken itself, instead of sliding off as a whole when you take a bite. This sounds trivial, but as someone who's very into Korean fried chicken and have tried many times to make it at home, this is something that's actually really hard. We tried both soy garlic and spicy sauces, and they were both good. My standard for spicy sauce is from BBQ Chicken (it's name of a chain), and compared to that (one from there tastes sort of like a tteeokkochi sauce), it was missing a bit of sweetness, but it was still really good.
Overall, it all tastes like home cooking without overuse of any seasonings. We will definitely be visiting back here when we...
Read moreHaru K-BBQ was packed on a Sunday evening, though space was available on the patio. Inside is tastefully decorated and clean, with numerous plants adorning the windowsill and cute tchotchkes throughout. Smooth Korean contemporary music is always heard.
We ordered numerous dishes to share for three people, and they were all excellent.
Japchae: the noodles were springy, chewy, and perfectly seasoned. The slightly crunchy cabbage and carrot added a nice contrast, and the beef was very flavorful.
Kimchi Jeon: the pancake was cooked to the perfect texture; the middle was gooey while the edges and sides had a good crunch. The freshness of the kimchi really came out well, and had a coying spiciness.
Miyeok Soup: the soup was seasoned very well, and the beef and seaweed flavor was very present. The seaweed had a great texture, and the beef really hit the spot.
Korean Fried Chicken: we got the dark meat option, which came as 5 pieces, and opted to not have sauce. The chicken was very flavorful and juicy. We also separately ordered a side of pickled radish, which was great.
However, the Korean fried chicken I’m used to eating has a pleasantly hard and extremely crispy crust, which this did not (it was more flaky and light). It’s still an excellent piece of fried chicken, but those specifically craving Korean fried chicken may find themselves disappointed.
Total after tax and tip was $72. All in all, highly recommended, and possibly the best restaurant in...
Read moreThis is my go to restaurant for authentic korean food. Price is reasonable and it is a good value for money because all dishes are delicious. I especially love their Korean Fried Chicken. It tastes different than what I get when I order from fast food chains, its like visiting your friends house and their mom cooked you a fried chicken. Its different but in a good way! It will give u home cooked vibes which is awesome. When i tasted their korean fried chicken, i never ordered fried chicken from any other place.
You'll have a choice if you want the honey garlic sauce or the spicy sauce to go with it. If you don't like spicy, go and choose the honey garlic sauce. As you can see on the pics, $34.99 is the whole korean fried chicken and there is, i tell you a good size of servings! If am on my period and feelin a bit lazy, i order the full size one for me and my bf, and we will still have some left for dinner and even for the next day. Lol we just heat it up ,put it in airfryer and it will still taste good. Whahaha. Its also good for parties, just order 1 whole korean chicken and its enough for lets say 10 people, i have posted the pic so u can see and judge for urself :)
If you are busy and on the go like me, It is convenient that their resto is avail to order on Skipthedishes, Foodbooking.com , (looks like they also have their own website) Either way, order away. u wont regret it. Highly...
