Bad service and bad at math! We placed a pickup order for Chicken Strips with salad and Chill(wack) Cheesesteak simple enough. I asked the server to add a side of au jus, she said “Are you sure you want an extra one it already comes with the sandwich”. I said okay as long as it comes with the sandwich no big deal. She said it did.
When we went to pick up the order just as we were getting to the car and one of the staff ran out as they had forgetting the salad. No big deal. I thought maybe I should check the bag and noticed strips of bacon sticking out of the side of one of the boxes, which was strange as nothing we ordered had bacon. I opened the box and there was some sort of cheese sandwich. We brought it back in and let them know they had made a mistake. The server then told my husband that they don’t have chicken strips (see pictures from menu they do) besides the kids menu, even though on the phone I spoke with her and talked about dipping sauce and nothing was mentioned about kids chicken strips. So I guess she punched in kids strips and we waited 10 more minutes. We got the strips and left.
When we got home we open the box and there we 3 strips in the box and no sauce (awesome). I then looked on the menu and realized they charged us $14.99 for a chicken club sandwich but either gave us a $7.99 kids meal or we were charged $14.99 for an order of chicken strips which means for the great price of $7.00 you can either: A)Add a 3rd chicken strip to make it a non-kids order which is ridiculous for 1 more strip or B) Get charged for a chicken club and not bother and not get give change when you realized you screwed up our order and gave me a kids meal. Also when unpacking the bag we realized there was no au jus.
Honestly this whole thing was mess and it’s incredibly frustrating when they clearly have a server who doesn’t know how to properly take an order properly or even know the menu well enough to be taking orders in the first place. They weren’t apologetic or even really concerned about the errors. We order form this place about twice a week and this will definitely put that on hold...
Read morePlace had 5 stars out of 500 reviews, yay 😁 love a great breakfast place. My first time here, maybe it's always great but today? Covid problems with cooks not available? Maybe one of the waiting stuff had to be put in to do the cooking or the dishwasher? I didn't see an espresso machine just a regular black coffee just ur normal on the lower quality side diner style drip coffee. No problem. I ordered the pulled pork benny and my partner chose the veg benny. 15.95 and 13.95 there's no way those won't be nice 😉. No chance both hollandaise sauces, hers and mine had a different color. Both most obviously from a packet. Cheep eggs store bought, farm eggs everywhere around for cheep and great quality but too much to ask apparently. Potatoes were ok , preboiled and finished on the pan. No special spices but cooked trough so nice. Eggs were done medium poached like I asked. Service was very good and so were their hot sauce. You can get the exact same quality around the corner from characters. Oh the pulled pork little layer of it, way over dry and blah too. To sum up store bought cheep eggs, store bought dry packet hollandaise, I am sure store bought, probably costco ready pulled pork, store bought, well obviously english muffins the older discounted ones you can keep in the fridge as they last and some descent potatoes for 16 bucks. I'd pay 20 for a tiny portion and walk away happy. But you have to take some pride in your work and do something presentable. Very poor job. Maybe they are awesome usually!? I will never find out. This would also be my...
Read moreCorner Nook is a very decent establishment to have breakfast, lunch or brunch at. The place is easy to miss, since this is in fact a small business and is somewhat hidden among other places. I ordered the 'Framble' special, which comes with French toast, your choice of sausage or bacon, pan fried potatoes and scrambled eggs. The platter even came with maple syrup. The eggs were okay, the pan fries were magnificent with how it was sauteed and seasoned, the sausages I ordered were great by how they grilled them. The coffee was good, but it could be better. The interior of the establishment looks very much like an antique shop with all the knick-knacks and old portraits decorated around the cafe. My only other complaint is that there is only one washroom there, which would not bother me so much if it was more available. Overall, I really enjoyed eating at the Corner Nook and will make sure to frequent...
