Incredible bang for your buck! Came in with friends for a quick lunch and was amazed. This was my first time at their new downtown location, which I must say - location wise, is much better but maybe I am biased as I reside much closer to their new location downtown vs the old Garrison/Sardis border location.
We were pleased with the colorful esthetic and the hand carved wooden chairs, the intimate booths, and the overall layout from the moment we walked in. A young man immediately greeted us and gave us free range in selecting where we would like to sit and were met with menus and water right away!
I wasn't feeling too hungry at the time, so I opted for a "small" Pozole soup with a side of chips and salsa. The small size was $7.99 and served with 2 fried corn tortillas, a lime wedge, sour cream, hot sauce, and diced onions. (Large size was 10.99) The soup was hot, rich in flavor, beautiful in color and loaded to the brim quantity wise. A generous amount of both corn and shredded chicken cooked to perfection in quite literally a drinkable broth. (I most certainly got caught drinking from the bowl) Hot sauce was delicious and had a good kick* When served the salsa, I was nervous it would lack flavor as it was bland in color but was DELICIOUS. Definelty a mild tasting salsa, but overall satisfying. Was the perfect way to cleanse the pallet after guzzling the hot sauce 😅 not to mention the fresh chips!
My gf thoroughly enjoyed her beef enchiladas, and our mutual friend certainly enjoyed his shrimp quesidilla. I sadly did not snap any pics of their meals before digging in. However, did get to try both the rice and beans served with the enchiladas. The beans were well blended together and creamy. The rice was well seasoned and served piping hot.
I left with plans already scheduled to come back as I, without a doubt, will be a re-occuring customer 🤤
Before tip for a small pozole, chips and salsa and water was just shy of $12.
Bathrooms were clean with both a separate men's option, women's option and a wheel chair accessible option. Flat entry from the sidewalk, with the resteraunt being only one floor and rather large walkways between tables & booths. I did not notice any provided high chairs but did notice...
Read moreWe’ve been coming here for over 10 years and have always spread the word about how much we love this Restaurant. Real, authentic Mexican Cusine. The staff used to be amazing, friendly and outgoing.
Throughout the Pandemic, our family has noticed the quality going downhill. Nonetheless, we continued to support this business.
Tonight my sister and I decided to come have dinner here tonight and we are thoroughly disappointed in both the food and service.
Our waitress as per usual during Covid, not friendly, but that’s not even the worst part. We both ordered Chicken Quesadillas, and my sisters plate came with a long curly black hair in it. We tried to tell the server quietly, because well, these things happen and we understand. She didn’t really apologize or take responsibility but she did replace the meal.
Then we got a Churro for desert and before the plate could even hit the table, we saw again this disgusting huge curly hair wrapped around our desert. Twice in one night.
Our server again, didn’t seem apologetic or even surprised for this to happen. I am shocked she made us pay, and only offered a 50% discount ($6) on the one quesadilla.
We’ve supported this family business for years. I wouldn’t have even written this review, but the fact that they made us pay when our food that was infested with multiple hairs, lack of responsibility taken & no apology... Super disgusting. Our family...
Read moreThe foods ok . I tried a variety of the dishes and overall the foods ok . There's flashes of excellence in the fish tacos and potato quesadilla. And the other dishes . The problem is in the details . The beef taquitos lacked flavour and the filling was on the dry side . The rice was ok but nothing special same as the beans . The sauces did not seem different from what you get when you purchase similar items from the supermarket. The chips and salsa were pretty much store bought chips with some salsa . I'm unsure if the tortillas that came with the meals were house made or not . Here's the problem when you go for Mexican food every element possible should be in house made . This definitely reflects in the overall experience for me . I can't say this was a authentic experience for me . It wasn't terrible but it definitely did not provide a experience that matched the high Google rating . It's a once and done for me . To bad a lot of effort has been put into the design and concept of this place . I want to like it more but when I compare it to other similar places in BC it falls short . Of the five dishes I tried I couldn't recommend any of them as being excellent it's good but needs to be excellent to warrant the rating it's...
